Recommendation for private tours in Rome

We're looking for a provate tour company in Rome. Can anyone recommend a company that tours all the major sites, inc. time spent at the Vatican?

Are there any companies that include admission charges in their tour price (other than the excursion offered by the cruise ship)? I would rather pay one proce upfront than have to pay at each attraction along the way.

Have not heard anyone that includes admission prices. Most clearly post that their fare doesn't include admission prices.

If you look down the board there are MANY MANY recommendations. The one that has over 2500 positive comments, is Rome in Limo, an excellent, quality operation.

We used Rome in Limo in Rome and Naples and won't consider any other company. They are deserving of all the raves. Check reviews on Trip Advisor. You won't be disappointed. We followed their advice and booked our Vatican tix in advance on line. We also had a private guide at the Vatican that was arranged by RIL. I was unable to pre purchase our Coliseum tix in advance as their website was down for weeks prior to our trip but Jany at RIL came through for us. No need to buy tix in advance at Pompeii, the lines are very short. If you have any other questions, ask away.

We are going to Rome in April 2015 and have been going crazy with all the tour companies and how their prices go from 300.00 pp to almost 500.00pp. How to decide if you are getting a reputable company. As this is a once in a lifetime, we want everything to per perfect. There are 4-6 of us and we want to especially go inside the colosseum and Vatican.. AND tipping 20% on 500.00 pp is this for real, then the driver etc. Please help!!!!

Do some reading here on the board. First, you will find the rates are rarely quoted as "per person". Typically they are for a vehicle that holds a fixed number of people. So, for example, you might get a quote for an 8 hour tour for two in a sedan for $450. That same 8 hour tour for 4 people might be $550, and for 8 is $800. Based on the size vehicle you wish. This fee includes the driver, but according to Italian law, a driver is not a guide. A guide will be a separate fee. The drivers for the companies frequently mentioned here impart a lot of info before you go into a site or location. They almost function as a guide. But they can't accompany you into a site.

Secondly tipping is a personal issue, but the standard rate in Italy is usually a ways below 20%.

Thirdly, there are MANY recommendations on this board. The companies mentioned here (and you should also look on TripAdvisor) get these recommendations because they provide a wonderful service, and make the best and most informative use of your time. Note how many say a private tour is the best way to get the most out of your visit to Rome (or wherever else).

Thank you all for your suggestions. Rome in limo..seems to be the right fit for us. Thanks again for your helpful info.;)

Jany at Rome In Limo will help you with all your plans and guide you to the different sites on line that you can buy your tickets for things like the Coliseum, the Vatican, in advance, so that you don't have to wait in lines. They truly are wonderful to work with. We have used RIL for transfers and tours on several different occasions and always been happy. They are on time every time, the guides and drivers they employ are quite knowledgeable and made our trips to Rome & Naples so much better. Enjoy!!!:)

I agree about Rome In Limo - we have used them exclusively for our 3 trips to Rome and have had a wonderful time.....Pompii, Florence & Pisa, Vatican with a guide, Colluseum, and a wonderful trip into the Tuscany Hills to a winery and an old Monestery that made their own licquor. We will use them again in October when we go to Europe and I know Jany will treat all the cruisers right.
