cruising out of NYC

We have never been to NYC and will be cruising Norwegian Gem on June 2. We are looking for a hotel that would be around the city but not too far from the port area. We are arriving 3 days before our cruise and looking for recommendations on where to stay.

Hotel dates May 30 - June 2? Two people? Bed size requirements? Realistic hotel budget/night. How are your arriving in New York? Flying or driving?

Manhattan is not that large so I would not limit your options to “not too far from the port area”. As Keith1010 suggested using TripAdvisor is a good way to make a selection that suits your needs and budget. From the hotel to the cruise terminal a yellow cab or Uber would be easy.

we booked The Watson . it's close to the port and nearby attractions .

Could you report back on your experience? Looks like a more budget choice between Columbus Circle and the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.

The Columbus Circle subway station has lots of choices, so that’s a plus, but the location is not walking distance to any major point of interest.

It all depends on how far you're willing to walk!

It's 2 avenues and about 10 streets from Times Square. Having done the NYC tourist walking thing last summer, that doesn't seem too far. Walked with 3 grandkids from Grand Central to 51st & 5th to Empire State on 34th to Herald Square on 32nd & 6th, up Broadway to Times Square and back to Grand Central.
