April 16 too late to see whales in Cabo?

I'm aware that almost all the whale watching excursions in Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta stop running by late March or mid-April when the whales start heading north.

I'll be in Cabo San Lucas on April 16 and 17 and in Puerto Vallarta on April 18 and have found one single company (in Cabo) that does whale watching tours through the end of April. They do have a whale sighting guarantee, but I'm still very leery of booking for April 16 when all the other tours have stopped for the season.

Does anyone have experience actually seeing whales in Cabo after April 15?

I did a cruise the first week of April a few years ago and booked a whale watching excursion. We only saw a one whale with her baby at the very end of the excursion. It was great as we saw them close up. But, having done multiple whale excursions in Cabo earlier in the year I wouldn’t do it in April again.
