Cruising next week. Cayman time vs Ship time

We have a tour scheduled and it says:

"Plan to check in 15mins before departure time. You are booked on our 11.15am island time tour."

That means we need to be there at 10:15 SHIP TIME, correct? We should always keep our watches set to ship time, right?

It's a 3 hour tour (Stingray City with Moby Dick Tours). Will we have time to do something afterwards? Suggestions?

as I type the time in Miami/Melbourne FL/Cape Canaveral is 12:18 PM

the time in Georgetown is 11:18 AM

remember, in Miami we moved our clocks forward one hour for DST, Cayman did not so Cayman appears to us as if they were in the Central Time Zone

The ship's time is set at the3 departure port. If you leave from Miami and they are on DST, Cayman will be one hour ahead. The ship's time is constant and remember that when you are returning to the tender.

  • 1 year later...

I haven't tendered in years. We are also doing MobyDick. Ship's arrival is scheduled for 7am. Info says 'arrive at kiosk at 9:15'. Would that be 1 1/4 hours after ship's arrival time? (or 2 1/4 hours?). Not sure about time difference between ship & Grand Cayman. TIA

When are you cruising? And what port are you sailing out of?

This is NOT correct.

Cayman does not observe DST. The US east coast ports do. So when it is 11:15am island time it will be 12:15pm ship time.

Cayman is one hour behind ship time in this case. Definitely not ahead.

It is correct that generally ships do not change the ships clock throughout the cruise, at least for Caribbean cruises. So if they say the last tender is 5pm ship's time that would be 4pm Cayman time.
