Princess Cays Stop

We are on the 11/25/18 Caribbean departure on the CB. The 14 day itinerary is ambiguous in that some of the online and printed itineraries show a stop at Princess Cays and others show the sailing skipping Princess Cays.

Anyone know which itinerary is correct?

I would think the itinerary on your Booking Summary and/or in your Cruise Personalizer would have the definitive answer.

...so no Princess Cays.

Since ports and port order can vary on that true 14 night itinerary the maps found in printed or non-date-specific online listings will be a generic map that will show all the various ports that some sailings may call at. Not necessarily yours.

Dummy me.......I meant Amber Cove. Sorry to be such a dunce.

The link in the response is part of the ambiguity. The graphic shows Amber Cove. The daily detail does not. The daily detail shows two days at sea.

One of the six (not yours) does call at Princess Cays. Which is not shown on the map, even when calling up that particular date.

All one can say is this is a poor showing by Princess' IT people.

It looks like there has been an itinerary change since that itinerary was first announced. Page 65 of the 2018-2019 Cruise Atlas shows six cruise dates this winter season with a stop at Amber Cove from 8 AM to 3 PM on day 3 for five of those dates. (The sixth date has a different port order). It also shows the St Thomas stop on day 4 as arriving at 10 AM while the revised (current) itinerary has the arrival at 8 AM.

Another change is that the stop at Aruba is now 7 AM - 5 PM when originally it was 8 AM to 10 PM and was highlighted as being a "late night" port.

I suspect all of the changes to the current itinerary are due to the propulsion problems which limit the ship's speed and which will not be fixed until the next dry dock after this winter season.

However due to the lack of complete propulsion of the CB, Amber Cove was dropped from the itinerary and the time in St Thomas was changed. We were all given a $50 OBC as compensation for not stopping in the DR. We had looked forward to stopping there as we have only been there one time before leaving only Trinidad the one port we have never been to before. While being disappointed, we understand and the cruise will still be great. So old itineraries will list Amber Cove as a port but the new itinerary deleted it because of propulsion problems with the CB.

What date did you actually book this trip in Nov?

Cruise Mapper only shows Carnival ships at Amber Cove that whole week. 2 on Monday and 1 on Thursday.

Royal Princes calls at that port on Wednesday the 21st but that is the only Princes ship for the rest of the month.

That ship has been operating at reduced speeds for quite some time . I believe that they must cut a hole in the hull to change out an engine ?

It suites us just fine. We hardly get off at any ports any more except to walk around & replenish out wine supply.
