Emerald Princess vs Celebrity Infinity - Mediterranean

I'll have to look at HAL again. I don't remember seeing anything that would work but will check again.

Took a look at HAL but did not their itineraries. My SIL received a brochure from Viking. All I can say is WOW! I love their ships. They look so relaxing and serene. Much nicer than Oceania.

So the drama continues and another monkey wrench. Is Viking worth the extra money? I've been crunching numbers and if I add in shore excursions, internet, laundry, a couple nights of specialty dining and the cost of travel/hotels from Rome to Venice for a couple of days (all included with Viking), Princess ends up costing the same. Neither would include air. Although we would probably end up taking some of the shore excursions not included with Viking so an additional cost. We would also lose our bev pkg with Princess but that's not a big deal. Viking includes most drinks and we're not big drinkers.

2 negatives with Viking: only 1 day in Rome (not sure that's enough time) and no casino (DH likes to play Texas Hold'em).

Thoughts?

Oceania and Viking are quality cruise lines, but they’re very toned down in the entertainment department. If you want modern music, lots of activities, and better shows, go with Princess. If those aren’t a big deal to you, Oceania and Viking would likely be fine. My DH and I did a cruise on the Pacific Princess, which is more like the Oceania ships. We had fun; we created our own by playing Scrabble every day. I prefer the big ships, but the small ships appeal to him because of their ability to get into more exotic ports and their true “boat” feel (aka seasickness for me [emoji38]). You can’t really go wrong in Europe because it’s so port intensive. Keep researching, and you’ll figure out the best option.

Thanks. We did have a slight concern about the entertainment but since it's so Port intensive I don't think that's going to make a big difference on this trip. As far as the seasickness I have to take something anyway so hopefully that won't be a problem. We took the Pacific princess up to Alaska and I was fine cruising around Alaska but once we got out into sea since we were sailing back to San Francisco I did get seasick on the way back

Sailing in the Med is normally very smooth. I have been on five med cruises sailing from Barclona, Rome, and Venice. The seas have always been calm.

It’s usually only when you sail from Barcelona to The Canaries that it may be a little rough, and sometimes earlier or later in the season i.e. Mar/April, Oct/Nov ;). We have experienced a few rogue storms from Civitavecchia too.
