Onboard the Victory, initial Impressions

We had several Away class sailing is the last couple years and LOVED them. I'd be lying if I didn't say I was worried about the older boat without the bells and whistles. But, we had a blast. We experienced more lines but you adapt and figure out your own patterns. No pay restaurants but the MDR was excellent. Fewer clubs but we found favorite and made friends. We loved the cabins and the stewards were outstanding. It was truly a great time. Here's the Siren's pool. Didn't take a pic of the bar but that was always hopping. It was next to pizza which was always busy. This was closed when cool and open when nice. Lovely area. a30c195b4a6bedc63fa74d06643de159.jpg

Thank you! It looks like they updated all of the deck flooring in the outdoor pools. Very cool! Thanks again for the awesome review!

thank you so much for the great review! they're really hard to come by for the Victory. Sailing her in a few weeks with my mom as a girls trip.

do you remember your waiters name? Sometimes good wait staff is hard to come by, so if I already know a good one I'll just request them the first night :)

thanks!!:)

I agree. We sailed with our two youngest daughters before they both married, and had a blast! This was before drink packages, and they ran up a $2000 sail and sign bill to my charge card! Lol! But those were wonderful memories. Hoping to get the whole family (5 children with spouses and 14 grandchildren) together for our 50th Anniversary cruise in March 2020.

Following along... my Fiance finally agreed to try a short cruise so we picked one on Victory... excited to see how your story unfolds!

We had a blast! My 21 y/o has done multiple NCL cruises and she thought this was her favorite!! Hope you both enjoy!!!

I am a non-smoker now but basically, the whole ship is set up for non-smokers (other than the casino). It stands to reason that they would have a comfortable place for a smoker to sit down and enjoy their cigarette :-)

Does it? I wouldn't mind a smoke-free environment. Or a contained place for smokers where I don't have to be exposed to secondhand smoke. JMO.

I know you said you waited till a bit later to get off the ship in MIami, but do you happen to know what time debarkation started for FTTF/Plat/Diamond? Maybe what time the flyer for FTTF said to meet?

Awesome review, thanks!

They started early because they'd been cleared But they did not have a special call for FTTF, etc. I'm guessing folks were ready early or

Were escorted off as they showed. Interesting you asked. I remember wondering what we'd do if we we're disembarking early. So sorry not sure since we'd decided to wait.

Great review! We sailed Victory twice and loved her. I like the green also!

Yay! I'm in good company then. The green definitely grew on me!! I'd sail her again in a heartbeat!!

I have been researching this ship as it will be my first Carnival Cruise. My first cruise ever was 2 years ago on Norwegian Getaway, so, it will be tough to top that new ship, but, I'm keeping an open mind and am understanding this is an older ship for sure. In doing my research by watching YouTube vids, etc. I noticed that the updates after it's recent drydock at the pool deck were pretty significant. Added Blue Iguana, RedFrog, Guys Burgers, etc. I also see they modified the pool and they moved jacuzzis to be built into the sun deck. In my opinion, very cool. Wondering if you by chance have any photos of the Siren's Pool located at the back of the ship? Curious to see if that got any upgrades! Thanks, and this is an awesome post. Sailing the Key West / Cozumel itinerary on April 30th. I'm getting pumped up!

I'm on that sailing too! :D:D:D

Thanks for the great review and the pics! We are sailing April 9th with some friends. All first-time cruisers and I appreciate your sharing all this wealth of knowledge. Makes me feel like I know what I'm doing when I get there. Can't wait!!

  • 3 weeks later...
Muster Drill - oh carnival, move this inside!!! What gives with lining 9e8f3dbd26ffee53abdb4e34e53c7bff.jpg us up outside??? It's a pretty cool day in Miami but I could see where this could be truly miserable in the heat. Or for those with mobility issues. Time to evolve, in my humble opinion...

Just found your review and I’m loving it this far. Me and my ladies will be on the Victory in June and can’t wait!!!

As far as the mister drill goes, me and a group of friends went on the Vista last September and our muster drill station was inside one of the restaurants. So I believe they do have them inside, it just depends on your station I guess as to if it’s indoors our out

Where muster drills are held at is decided by the US Coast Guard not Carnival. It depends on several things within the ship, area layout or whatever. I've gotten this directly from Carnival. I'm hoping when our cruise comes that its either not blistering hot or its inside :)
