Taxis from Fort Lauderdale port

How difficult is it to get a cab to your hotel after disembarkation in Fort Lauderdale? Is it better to arrange for a car? The hotel doesn’t provide shuttle service. Thanks.

We have never had to wait for a taxi at the Fort Lauderdale port. Normally there are a line of them ready to go (they are well aware of when the ships arrive and debark). This could vary by when you get off the ship (we get off fairly early but not the first group).

It is very easy to get a taxi. As you exit the cruise-port there will be signs for the taxi line. There will be lots of taxis, usually no waiting time at all. Only once in all our travel out of Fort Lauderdale did we have to wait - maybe 15 minutes.

There are typically huge lines of taxis...sometimes as long as several blocks. Discussed frequently on the Florida Departures board.

Ft Lauderdale has tons of taxis at the airport and cruise terminals.

Only a couple of times did we have problems getting a taxi.

You may want to try Uber or Lyft. I used Lyft from PE to FLL airport. For two people the fare was $10.67.

As mentioned lots of taxis. If you are not in a rush I would also consider Uber.

Thanks everyone. We've always done the HAL transfer with a tour, but since we are just shy of being able to do a tour/transfer this time by flight time, I'm thinking a taxi/Uber would work even better.

We have always caught a taxi to our hotel after disembarkation and not once, never had a hard time getting one.

We take an Uber (XL) to the port and a cab home. We started doing this when I requested a taxi for 3 people and 2 weeks worth of luggage. The yellow cab people sent a Prius. We do not travel light.

They wound up sending us a second cab, so we had a double fare.

When we're coming home from a cruise, we can reject the itty bitty cabs while we are in line.
