It's not a bad ship.

Our last cruise was on the Dream, bigger and newer.

Going on the splendor again in April. It is a little pink for my taste, all in all a good ship. Does have a little bit of on odd layout

I have been on the Splendor twice. The first time I liked it fine, but the second it was noticeable to me that it was missing some amenities of other ships like Guys and Blue Iguana Cantina. It's not a bad ship, but I personally like most of Carnival's other ships better. That being said, if you want to do the Mexican Riviera and that's the ship that goes there, then go. You are on a cruise ship!!!!

We are booked for Oct. 2018 to Hawaii specifically for the children's program for our 5 year old Granddaughter.

We have sailed Splendor before. It does have an odd layout, and it is pink, but I love pink and I think it's lovely.

We are seniors, and Princess is our line of choice, but we aren't expecting to be disappointed either. :D

We are thinking about booking splendor because of itinerary to Mexico. I tend to like newer, bigger ships so I afraid I’ll be disappointed. Need opinions from past splendor cruisers please.

I sailed the Splendor a couple of years ago to New England/Canada out of New York. Loved the cruise. Food was great. Ate at the Steakhouse and was very impressed.

Ship was very "pink". The wall decorations looked like donuts. The ship was a very nice ship but I was just OK with it. It is the only ship that I ever sailed where by the end of the week I was still confused by the layout. Never got it figured out. But, HEY, it was a cruise. Some ships are different.

Enjoy!

My wife and I sailed on Splendor last July. We booked an aft balcony for the first time. We loved it!! For the most part, had a good time on the ship. Food was good, staff were very good and the entertainment was excellent. My only complaint would be with the propulsion system of the ship. Whenever we left port, there was a really strong vibration that shook the room. Towards the end of the cruise I felt the vibration at night while trying to sleep. I had to secure the bathroom door to make sure it remained closed. The closet doors rattled. These problems may have very well been taken care of by now. I'm only talking about my own experience. I like Carnival and we will be on the Magic in July. Don't know that I will book Splendor again.

I took my Mother who in in her 70's for her first cruise on the Splendor in April 2017. I did not notice the pink after the 2nd day.

The good: we had a spa balcony cabin & the Splendor has a great spa., The ship is a nice size for a first time cruise The crew was absolutely fantastic.

The only complaints about the ship were because the last 2 cruises prior to this has been on the Breeze & Dream so I kept making comparisons. I missed having Guy's Burger, Blue Iguana Cantina, Italian restaurant, etc. I also kept thinking the pool area on the Lido deck should be larger and have more sets of stairs up to the neck deck/floor.

I still prefer the Breeze or Dream but would gladly go on the Splendor again anytime.

cruser3, I really hope you see this! We have 4 aft deck cabins on Empress deck booked. Can you tell me what deck you were on? We love aft deck, but this post does make me a bit nervous...

We really enjoyed the Splendor and the food options. Even though no 2.0, it had a burrito bar, old fashioned BBQ, Mongolian wok, tandoori India food, deli, American grill, and I think sushi. Lido buffets never seemed crowded. Shows and bands where very good. Ship interior not as heady as other ships. The crew as a whole was above average and friendly about everywhere we went. Room service food was really good.

Great itinerary and a really good ship!

I wouldn't hesitate to book the Splendor. As one poster said/implied, it's the Mexican Riviera, any ship is a good one.

We are back on the Splendor for a mid-Feb cruise. Been on the Miracle for same cruise the last few years (the in-laws drag me kicking and screaming.). So my comments are somewhat based on that ship..

LOVE

- The Tandoor station on Lido. Might be the best "Lido" lunch food on any ship I have ever been on.

- The rotisserie area...now it's apparently a BBQ station, but it's above the regular Lido. Love it not so much for the food but for the seating. Being upstairs takes you out of the chaos.

- Pool side movies.

- Deck 5 Walkway goes alongside the casino, not right thought it (I am neither a gambler, nor smoker).

Will miss (from miracle):

- Aft Serenity Area. Splendor's are along the forward sides. So it seems windier and no dedicated pool. And you have to be strategic and think about which side the sun is on. It is quieter than the Miracle's. Sometimes the Serenity on Splendor was more like Spring Break in Daytona.

- Mixology bar. Yum.

Someone mentioned the odd layout. The one thing I could not get over on the Splendor was deck three. Since the galley is between the Black and Gold Pearl dining rooms, you couldn't go all the way through Deck 3. To get to your table on at the black pearl on deck 3 required going up and around and down if you happen to be on deck 3.

Just back from splendor. Best feature is the dome over main pool. I posted a video in this forum but here it is....lots of detail on the ship plus a few laughs

I cruised on Splendor late 2016, and for the most part enjoyed my cruise. As always in my past experience on Carnival, the crew, staff were exceptional. I had no issues with food quality, or dining. it was all good to very good.

My only negatives were, poor mattress quality in my room, tried two beds, both were very uncomfortable, also the room temperature was most uncomfortable for sleeping at night, too warm. and no ability to control that., the thermostat was set to coldest, yet the room was always way too warm.

Other big issue was smoke in the casino. I do enjoy time there, and found it near impossible to spend any time in the casino after about 2pm, when it started to fill up, and the smoke became a cloud of suffocating fumes. I did actually develop a respiratory tract infection that took me weeks to get over, and i attribute to that smoke. I will not cruise Carnival again because of the smoke situation in the casino.

Only other slight negative was a very poor internet connection. I could not get on wifi in my room, but needed to take my tablet with me to an upper deck in order to connect, and found that to be a pain in the butt because I had to lug a bag with me big enough to carry that tablet, and am usually only needing to carry my sail and sign card on a lanyard.

All in all , enjoyed my cruise on Splendor, did like the layout of the ship, and also the decor. I like pink!

Dont like donuts, but did not see any donuts in the design, just some round motifs, and pink at that.

I would sail Splendor again, and Carnival again, but only if they offer a better smoke free environment for me and other non smokers who like to spend time and money in the casino, as well as a more comfortable sleep, both temperature wise and bed mattress wise. JmHo. though.
