Dining Room Question for the Dream

We have 10 people (3 families) going on New Year's cruise on the Dream. Two families booked Early Seating and one did Your Time Dining. Is there any way for us to eat together sometimes?

If we are late to Early Seating, can we go to Your Time Dining? Or do you have to stay in your Dining Rooms assigned?

Our last 2 cruises, we have done the Early Seating (not on the Dream - smaller ships). Seems like you had to get there really early because there was always a big line to get in. So this time we thought we would do the Early Seating instead. For those of you that have done Anytime Dining on the Dream, was there usually a line?

If you do Early or Late Seating, does your meal time take longer than Anytime Dining?

Thanks!

No, you are assigned your dining time. Usually in different dining rooms as well. You can't go to YTD one night and early the next. You're either/or.

With YTD you can be out quick. We are usually in and out in about 45 minutes.

No, you all must select the same dining option for the entire cruise if you want to eat together.

No, if you are too late for early dining, you can't go to any time but you can eat at the buffet.

Meal time should take about the same amount of time for any option, except with any time dining you might have to wait to be seated.

This applies to all Carnival ships.

You can't interchange Early, Late, and Anytime Dining.

You can eat together in another venue such as the buffet, the steakhouse, etc.

Or you can all request the same dining assignment. If Early or Late, have your reservations linked so you will be seated together. If Anytime, show up together.

There is a way for you to eat together, just not in the MDRs. Just meet up on Lido.

We always do YTD on the Dream and generally show up at 5:45 when the doors open. There is, of course, a line but it moves rapidly.

After the 5:45 rush, can you still get in if you go around 6:30 or later. Or do you have to wait sometimes? Or does it fill up most of the time at 5:45?

Thanks!

The dining room is huge compared to the line formed when the doors open. The people in line are quickly checked in and seated with ample space remaining. I have heard that people who come later (7ish?) may experience wait times as the first round of diners complete their meals and the tables are reset, but I have not experienced this first hand. We are usually in by 6 and out shortly after 7.
