That is a problem on some ships celebrity included- not enough elevators. In a perfect world they should have three banks of elevators. One in the front, back and midship. I do not understand why they do not have at all three locations. Especially on the huge ships.

They always have them in the front and in the middle. In the back it does not fit on some ships due to the restaurants and kitchens on several decks. Other cruise lines like Costa have them on them but it is confusing as you can not walk strait through the decks. And it does not help against crowds. Most helpful is if people with good health conditions use stairs for short distances.

Maybe they will add a Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen - WOULDN'T THAT BE GREAT!?!?

Well, at least for us Suite Brats. ;p

We also need to start a campaign to bring back the Connoisseur's Lounge!

We're booked for June '18 on Adventure of the Seas, and I'm conflicted.

People report the cabins need updating as some of that process was evidently dropped in the abbreviated dry dock, but adding the rest of the originally planned staterooms will make things a bit more crowded. It looks like 38 new cabins on deck 12.

Here's a link to deck plans I found: https://www.icruise.com/deckplans/royal-caribbean-cruises-adventure-of-the-seas-deckplans-deck-12.html

There's an option for deck plans after the category change in May, '18. Not sure if they're accurate, but they're interesting to look at.

We are sailing on the Adventure in August in a grand suite-However if I were in the categories offered on deck 12- I would grab it. The cabins will be new. Not too worried about the 38 cabins that are being added on. Enjoy your cruise.

I don't take elevators much or know about Adventure but do get oddly excited when I see deck plans with forward, middle and aft stairwells and elevators.

Just seems handy.

There are no aft elevators on Adventure and I'm quite sure they are not going to build any new shafts to install any. And those aft stairs shown on deck 12 don't exist either. If they did they would come down right in the middle of the Windjammer.

Also wanted to mentioned that this is really the third dry dock for Adventure in the last 3 years. The first one in Feb 2014 was also abbreviated. That one gave her Giovanni's, WiFi, and the pool big screen.

Does anyone know what the plans are for the 2018 dry dock of the Adventure?

No plans have been publicly announced by the cruise line. We are guessing a Suite Lounge, Izumi, and probably more staterooms somewhere.

Sailed on the Adventure this past April and inquired about changes with the ship's officers.

They told me of the updates with the caveat that they could be changed as this has happened before.

The Suite Lounge will be on the 14th floor port side utilizing the space formerly used by the card rooms.

There will be floor to ceiling windows the same as the Diamond Lounge located on the same floor starboard side. However, the door will be closed to the veranda since the rockwall counter is located there.

The Connoisseur Club (cigar lounge deck 5 past the elevators and before the bar lounge area) was removed on the last drydock and will house the card room and library.

The Concierge Lounge previously located on deck 9 aft will house interior rooms.

The library was on the 7th floor and they will be converted to interior rooms.

On the front of the ship on deck 12 is where the panorama cabins will be located with floor to ceiling windows.

There will be a sundeck on the 13th floor above these new cabins.

The walking/jogging track on the 12th floor will now go behind the Sky Bar on one side and behind the big screen TV on the other side.

Izumi's will replace the Sport's Bar on the Promenade (deck 5).

When they took the disco out they added interior rooms on deck 3 and put in Chop's on deck 4 across from the Schooner Bar.

There will be no Coastal Kitchen on the Adventure.

The water slides and 2-tier miniature golf (12th & 13th) were installed on the aft in previous drydock.

Also, on the previous drydock they changed the smoking from the starboard side to the port side.

Smokers can smoke (cigarettes and cigars) on the pool deck (11) and the open air 12th deck where there are ashtrays, as well as the 4th floor outside between the elevator banks.

Smoking with a roof over your head is only available in the casino, which also has a non-smoking area in the rear by the bathroom.

I'll be on in Feb. 2018 to see what occurs.

The panoramic staterooms do not have balconies and are regular size staterooms.

Suite guests dining

For breakfast you have use of Giovanni's, which is located on the 11th deck ( same as the WindJammer) starboard side.

It is a full service sit down breakfast with your own chef and a very nice menu with a small but very nice buffet that has upgraded pastries and such.

This breakfast is also open on the day you depart which is a MAJOR PERK while the bedlam occurs in the WJ.

Lunch is the same for everyone - port days the WJ.

Sea days a choice of the MDR for their delicious tutti salad for those who eat healthy and enjoy over 20 different ingredients for a personally made salad.

Dinner is MDR or a specialty restaurant with an upcharge.

My family and I are doing just that; we are sailing in October on the 13-night re-positioning cruise up the eastern seaboard, and we have two of the new cabins on 12.

We noticed the card room on starboard at the theater. We had a wonderful made to order breakfast in Chops each day. The only time we went to Giovanni's was first sea day after getting food from WJ, at which time the doors were open to everyone because WJ was so packed. We did order room service to avoid WJ the next lunch on sea day. There was no special breakfast offered debarkation day, so we did MDR. No more bridge tour (boo). Had sail away on heliport with champagne and sushi. Sucel checked us onto our returning flight. CL staff wonderful. We didn't inquire as to upcoming dry dock plans. Check-in was fast embarkation day, but no special seating, and the rolling door opened around 11:40, but the waiting area cleared out very quickly. No special seating for suites, etc.

my concern is for those who were already booked and have been cancelled with very little notice. sure they can rebook on another ship with some onboard credit, but what about pre or post hotel stays, airlines, excursions. we are on the next regularly scheduled cruise after renovation is completed (february 17) and are in jeopardy of having this impact our cruise if things don't go exactly as scheduled. with a multi-generational group of 8 that we have been planning for almost a year, i would be really upset if our plans are interrupted.
