Would you all like a picture of my daughter's feet so can make fun of her? They are slightly deformed. I apologize she was born that way. Should I not allow her to wear a Sandals??

I always wear sandals or shoes that I guess could technically be called dressy flip flops. I can't wear closed toe shoes in warm weather. So no way on a Caribbean cruise.

 

I do shower before dinner so my feet aren't dirty. I also try to keep them off the table near people's plates while they're eating.

Seriously??? Someone was posting pictures of people with deformed feet and making fun of them. Of course, you were his biggest cheerleader. The point of my post was how horrible it is to be making fun of people who can't help the way that look. I was not "pimping" out my daughter. I was defending people who were being made fun of.

And besides ..the guy who posted all those pics was just posting pics of people with jacked up feet and toes wearing sandals they should not have been .. for obvious reasons ..... so lighten up.

If you include the rest of the post it's pretty obvious that comment was sarcasm and was meant to make people realize that by making fun of people with deformed feet they were being mean and insensitive. If my feet looked like that would I wear footwear showing it off? No. But do those people deserve to be made fun of? That depends on who you ask, I guess.

I have very bad plantar fasciitis. And dressy sandals that meet the support needs that I have for my foot are very hard to come by. I found that Vionic makes awesome orthotic flip flops that are rather dressy. Not your average $2.00 Old Navy junky flip flops.

So before we go judging everyone who has to wear "flip flops" in the MDR, please understand that some of us have valid reasons.

If a woman with well-manicured feet wants to wear stylish flip-flops into the MDR, that's their purview as long as the cruise line in question doesn't explicitly forbid it.

OTOH, men should NEVER wear flip-flops into a restaurant (and I say that as a guy). Who wants to see some dude's hairy, smelly, fungus-encrusted, disease-laden feet while they're trying to have dinner?

I was on a cruise last year out of Baltimore where I witnessed a group traveling with a few folks who were in wheelchairs due to MHMR reasons (mental health/mental retardation). The woman escorting a guy in a wheelchair was told by staff she had to leave and go put him in pants because shorts were not allowed. She said he is unable to wear pants due to the braces on his legs. They escorted them out of the MDR which was a huge turnoff for me. I was very disappointed with the way RC handled this. What was this guy hurting by wearing his khaki shorts and a nice button up shirt in his wheel chair???

I totally agree with you. I would report this lack of empathy to corporate office. Very disappointing indeed.

A woman .... who grooms her husbands feet and toes? .. Who does that ?!!

I don't wear flip flops to the MDR but the vast majority of people wear them since they wake up in the cruise all the way to 1 or 2nd MDR time. Why are not allowed if basically people wear them almost all day long during the cruise.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread but it's been a while since I've cruised Royal and I need to make sure I will not get turned away from the MDR if I wear my dressy thong sandals.

Like some other people here, I have foot issues, one they are super slim so nearly all strappy sandals and closed in shoes just plain do not fit. Secondly I have a cyst on the ball of my foot that requires some cushion so that I am not in pain.

If I wear a pair like this with a dress I would not think it would be an issue but I know with Celebrity it can be, do you think it will cause me any problems on Royal?

On Reflection, I once saw a woman in PJs, slippers and the Celebrity robe, with curlers in her hair, going to breakfast in their cafeteria venue. I just LMAO, if I'd had a phone with me, I'd have proof for you!:halo:

Didn't bother me, just amused me. I really don't care what people wear anywhere. I wear what I'm comfortable in and expect the same from others.

Then there was the Russian couple whose wife had sewed matching outfits for her husband and herself. She wore hats that matched and he had vests. They were quite Bob Mackey type outfits (feathers even)...but of course I didn't have my camera. They were in the Diamond lounge every evening with a different costume on and were the topic of much speculation. Wild but again, quite amusing. Whatever floats your boat!

Awesome! Wish I could wear yellowbox shoes, they are cute but way too wide for my sticks! :loudcry: Volatile tends to run smaller and I have several different kinds of their sandals, they are a total lifesaver and living in Florida I can wear them year round.
