The rising Australian dollar

The AUD is up over $0.80 USD for the first time since 2015.

 

Up to about 61 pence on the Sterling too. If it hits 65p I will buy some for next year, but I doubt it will hit that. ;)

I think its more a case of the US falling again rather the AU and NZ rising.

NZ is around .75 to the US and .95 to the AU .

I agree, the jump above $0.80 was on the back of a US announcement of it's Fed interest rates being put on hold.

Really, it's both. The Australian TWI went to its highest levels since 2014 in the past week. That measures our value against other currencies.

 

At the same time, the USD has been a poor performer for a number of reasons, so the USD has taken a beating as well.
