Princess Air cannot book seats early

If you want to get picky we will specify "China Airlines." We do understand that some folks might not realize that Air means "Airline."
But perhaps we made a bad assumption that somebody such as yourself would be intelligent enough to know that China Air and China Airlines refer to the same thing. Our mistake.
You have caused confusion on two separate recent threads by this, and for the same reason: Because you were too lazy to say "China Airlines" and wrote "China Air" instead, two different CCers thought that you might have meant "Air China".

That is enough to show why you were wrong to do this.

But perhaps you did not know that there is an airline called "Air China", which is not the airline called "China Airlines". And as we do not move in august circles, I'll leave to one side the potential diplomatic difficulties which could in theory be caused by confusing the two. And indeed, the practical difficulties that might result from booking one when intending to book the other.

BTW, "Air China" does not mean "Airlines China". But perhaps some folks might not realise this.

Thank you.

I knew I was being pedantic, but second guessing the name of an airline can be an expensive business.

P.S. We assume you are one of the only folks on earth who called USAIR....US Airways

Well, to be accurate, Allegheny Airlines changed its name to USAir in 1979. It maintained that name until 1997, eighteen years later, when it changed its name to US Airways and stopped using any designators of USAir. It was acquired by America West in 2005, with the new combined company keeping the US Airways name.

So yes...I called it US Airways - after 1997. And USAir before.

From this forum alone, in the last couple of years (after US Airways ceased to exist, so attracting fewer routine mentions):-

Thanks for the mention, Globaliser. Btw, I sipped some wine in your honor whilst enjoying One Flew South last week. I look forward to another visit in two weeks when K12Guy and I connect in ATL on our way to Dublin. Although we have Sky Club access, with 3+ hours to kill, there is ample time for good wine! Cheers :D

I'm glad you enjoyed it! The collected wisdom of the specialist Internet (which is where I originally got the recommendation from) can be very good - including the views of the frequent flyer CCers here.

We've booked with EZAir for years, it depends on which airline whether you can book your seats through Princess or not. When we find a flight we like, we then go to the airlines site and do a mock booking and see what seats are available. If there are seats available that we like, we call Princess and pay only for the air portion of our cruise, then you can go to the airlines site and book your seats. So far we've not had a problem doing this Of course once you pay for your air tickets they become restricted and you can't make a change unless you pay a charge. As an example, our cruise isn't until September but we wanted to book our seats now so we could get comfort seats so we called Princess and paid for just our air only, they put us on hold and contacted the airline and in just a few minutes we were ticketed and we were able to go to the airline's site and book our seats. We also upgraded to comfort seats and paid the difference to the airline. We'll pay for the rest of the cruise when it's due in June. Hope this helps. :):)

Thank you! This is exactly what I wanted to hear. We just want to pay for air only right now to get seats and then we will pay for the cruise when it is due.
