Back to back cruise

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of booking a back to back and have never done so. Do I have to book the same cabin on each cruise, to be able to leave my luggage on board? Do I need to go thru customs, coming and going. Do I need to get a new sail and sign card? Can you think of all of the other things I have not thought to ask. Thank you.

you should book the same cabin, makes life easy. Even if you change cabins, the stewards help you move your clothes to your new cabin. We always get the same cabin. You are booking two separate cruises. You will close one account and pay for your first cruise, get a new S&S card and start over. You do not have to get in line again, they escort the B2B guests off the ship, cursory customs and re board

Be sure to tell your TA or PVP or Guest Services to link your 2 bookings. You can request the same table or wait staff in the MDR for the 2nd sailing if you want. The ship will be quiet before the new guests begin boarding.

Actually we have sailed in the same cabin on a b2b more than once and we were excused from muster drill the second week.

You were lucky, we did a b2b2b last January and went to three muster drills. Have done 5 b2b and have never been able to get out of the drill. Just my luck.

A lot of misinformation in this thread already. They do not scan everyone's sail and sign card, only supposed to scan one per cabin. They yelled at my mom in April for getting her scanned after my dad had scanned his. I know they are just doing their jobs but it amazes me how rude the staff can be during muster drill. It usually sets the stage for people not caring much for them.

the staff are not rude the guests are extremely rude. the staff are just trying to do their jobs. I have no idea who, or by what authority they had to excuse you from the drill. It's not misinformation, it's Maritime Law and all cards are scanned. We were in the show room of the Dream for our muster drill. They would not end the drill until all guests were accounted for. They repeatedly called the guests by name over the P.A. system When they finally arrived 20 minutes after everyone else. the guests were loudly boo'd.

I reread my statement that you were responding to and I don’t like how I phrased it. The staff are always so nice that they come off as rude a lot of times during the drill...but sometimes they actually are rude during the drill and that’s pretty much the only time they are ever rude to guests. Wanted to clear that up.

We were on the Magic in April and May and did the drill both times in the dining room, makes sense since they are sister ships. I went to the drill both times but one of my brothers skipped both in April and May and my other brother skipped in April. It worked out for them in April by happenstance because they only scanned one card per cabin and checked everyone off in the cabin. Maybe don’t call people liars if you weren’t there, not a good look.

Dancing Grandmommy re: Alcohol, they used to bring it to your room after the first leg but I believe I read on here that they have stopped doing that within the last year. However, since they now let you pick up your booze on the last night, maybe that would be a workaround to get your booze after the first leg.

"Maybe don’t call people liars if you weren’t there, not a good look."

I did not call anyone a liar, I said it was international Maritime Law.

You implied that because it was maritime law (which it is highly doubtful the law says specifically that they must scan sail and sign cards or how passengers are accounted for) it had to be such.

Just because it’s the law doesn’t mean people always comply to the T!

As a Coast Guard Captain, I highly doubt the words sign and sail are not included in Maritime Law, it's called a safety drill, everyone must be accounted for.

Thanks for admitting that you weren't coming from a place of knowledge on the subject and were just speculating! Big difference between being a Coast Guard Captain and a learned Maritime Lawyer. All that being said, thanks for your service, the Coast Guard doesn't get enough respect in my opinion.

Still can't imagine Sail and Sign would ever show up in a piece of legislation given sail and sign cards aren't a feature on every vessel, for instance, Royal Caribbean uses a SeaPass card.

So if you purchase alcohol from the first cruise will they bring it to your cabin at the end of that cruise, thus allowing you to use it for the second? If not are you allow 2 bottles of wine per person, 1 for each leg of the cruise?

On B2B, alcohol is held until the end of your final cruise.

You may bring the total amount of wine and soda you are entitled to for all cruises combined, the extra will be held and delivered on the first day of each additional cruise.

Sometimes, they have never done that to us. Last January on our b2b2b we brought on six bottles of wine and took them all to the room on the first day. We even go to to fun shop on the last night of the first cruise and buy a bottle of liquor to bring back to the room for the next week.

The liquor purchase is kind of in line with my thinking. I wonder how much of this stuff is ship dependent?

Our experience was we booked the same cabin.

We had to pay two deposits.

We had to go to two muster drills. All three of us had our sail and sign card scanned.

We received our new sail and sign cards before we left the ship.

We did leave the ship to visit customs between cruises. We walked back on. Took many photos of the different places on the ship without any one on board.

Sorry for all of the "we"'s.

Back to back cruises are great.

our b2b cruise last year we were excused too

We were excused on Carnival when we did a B2B almost 10 years ago. We just did another on RCCL and had to attend even though we had the same cabin. So put this one in the +column for Carnival one the countless CCL/RCCL comparison threads.
