what is the wildest, craziest thing you've ever seen on a cruise?

I think we might be someone else's funny story :o

We were on our 25th anniversary trip on the Valor out of San Juan a few years back. Hubby and I have a policy between us that on each cruise we do something that we have never done before on a cruise, and this one was no different. We actually did several "firsts" on this particular sailing including bingo and the Love & Marriage Game. I am not one who enjoys being in the spotlight so I was really there for my hubby, who had his heart set on playing, because after 25 years you do dumb stuff just because you love someone a lot. It was a big anniversary so I put on my brave face and we walked in.

Felipe was the CD and his method of choosing his 3 couples is: After he whittles down to the newest and the oldest he then chooses his middle couple right down the middle of the two. There were 3 sets of us :o so onto the kissing showdown to see which of the middle couples moved on.

I can't remember if we had to have a tie breaker or not, maybe because all I can remember is my hubby "dipping" me backwards and my slippery shoes giving way and landing me flat on my back. The people roared and our destiny was written. I now HAD to do the L&M show. I was so nervous I was shaking, but figured well, we don't know a single person here so I'm gonna have fun and make my hubby proud. I can tell you I shook the entire time though :')

Felipe sends the hubbies to the backstage area and just has the women on stage - I am wondering if I can do this and then the questions begin. I think we all tend to talk about the questions when we watch the shows so I kind of knew what my husband would say to most of the questions. Plus, we just know eachother really well. I dutifully write down my answers and he comes back and forth looking at them as we write. Then he asks the big one and I have a decision to make. I decided to just tell the truth - banking on the fact that what happens there stays there and its all good..

Felipe - Where/when is the craziest place you ever .....

Me - " In our hammock, on our balcony, just before the show"

Felipe - deadpan stare

Felipe "really ?"

Me " um, yes ?" < wondering if Im about to be in major trouble>

Felipe - Fist bump + big smile

Crowd - Applause and cheers

FFWD to the hubbies who are asked for thier answers from backstage.

Felipe - "Roger, how did your wife answer this question ? When/Where was the craziest place you ...."

Roger - without missing a beat.. "In our hammock, on our balcony, just before the show "

Crowd - Roars

I scored some big points with my hubby and we enjoyed cruise ship fame for the last sea day :halo:

We were seated near a large wedding party of about 18. Everyone dressed up and really seemed to enjoy being together.

The formal night, two ladies got up from the table. The one wearing a halter dress turned her back on the other wedding guests. Her friend reached down, lifted and rearranged boobs. She then retied the dress and they sat down and finished their dinner.

I really enjoyed all these posts. I have a number of contributions and plan to make multiple posts.

We were cruising in 1989 on the SS Britanis, our first cruise with friends. At that time all meals were semi-formal with assigned seating. Our table sat 8 and we were all Canadians us and our friends, a father and his 2 daughters probably late teens and a single male traveler (Peter) that had recently retired. Peter was from North Bay and actually resided about 3 hours from our home in Blind River Ontario. We enjoyed our evening meals and noted that some tables were celebrating and getting cakes delivered to their tables. Without our recent retiree knowing we spoke with our table mates and suggested we ask for a cake in honour Peter. To his surprise this nicely created cake with candles was delivered to our table and we sang an impromptu medley. The waiter was preparing to cut the cake and to everyone's surprise Peter said "don't cut it, just wrap it and pack it up so I can take it home". The waiter was shocked and finally convinced Peter that the cake would be shared and he would have another one made up for Peter to take home.

All of us at the table shared a laugh about this as we had realized that Peter had a different personality.

This cruise set us on a future of cruising that we still enjoy as much as our first.

I will share more later.

I've just had such fun reading these as I prepare for my next cruise next week. I started writing down all my "funnies".

Here's a pre-cruise story:

We traveled on the Disney Wonder when my son was 5 and my daughter was about 1. My parents also joined us. We came down a day early and went to Disney. My daughter was in one of those rental strollers. We went to ride the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. You need to park the strollers outside and you go through a dark maze and then board a boat for the ride. My father was wheeling the stroller with my daughter so I told him to leave the stroller there and proceeded to run after my son who had already entered the cave. We got on the boat and the ride started. I asked my father to hand me my daughter and he said (this is true!), "you told me to leave the stroller outside". I screamed that he was supposed to take her out first. This was the looongest ride I was ever on. I kept yelling for help but they said we just had to finish the ride.

When we got off, she was fine but I aged 10 years! She's 9 now and has been told the story and constantly reminds my father of when he left her outside the ride for anyone to steal!

That's got to be one of my favorites, there.

One of ours I just remembered, not necessarily funny, but perhaps odd and gross. DW was indulging on a vacation bar of Toblerone chocolate. Well, she was SUPER tired and had this awful habit of fighting off her sleep, even though she would be almost comatose, she'd insist she was okay and try to keep functioning.

So the next morning, she wakes up, and discovers she had dropped the chocolate on the bed and squirmed around on it late night, as she tried to stay awake. Most of the bed sheets had brown chocolate smeared all over it.

The poor room steward. I think she left a note for him/her, that it was ONLY CHOCOLATE, but I can't even imagine that poor person, what they must have thought, pulling sheets off the bed covered with mushy brown "stuff". I'm sure they assumed it was... ahem... "doody". :loudcry:

I've been on a few Carnival party cruises with friends... I'm in my late 20s. Fights are probably the craziest things I've seen on a cruise ship, especially amongst the late night crowd. Who in their right mind goes on cruise to fight someone? The last one I saw ended up with the two fighters in tears as security restrained them.

On a sillier note, when I was on Oasis of the Seas I kept seeing this group of teenagers that were more or less being immature. One of the days they had a food fight in the Windjammer. The staff was less than thrilled and only warned them. The next sea day, they all decided to eat off their plates... using only their mouths. It was somewhat entertaining.

Yes-he was gambling age- and idk why this didn't post sooner it was more like three weeks ago. The guy had an E cig and was blowing balls of smoke and other young adults thought it was great fun. He was seen by myself two separate nights. I thought maybe he had been eating mushrooms [emoji265] or something to actually be out and about, in such good humor.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Lol, that would be even more awesome, if he actually picked up some Mushrooms before cruise, and then went to the casino in the pyama. Hilarious story, as a lot of other stories from the thread. And its a shame that i dont have such a funny story to tell, as im relatively new to cruising.

I've been reading this thread for a few days now at work trying to keep my laughter down.

One of the most funny stories I can recall is back in 2008 when my parents brought my sister and I on the Carnival Liberty. It was the last formal night and we had just finished our dinner and were on our way to watch the evening show. My sister was wearing thin healed high healed shoes and as we were exiting the dinning room she managed to walk right into the to little lock for the glass doors in the floor. She quickly realized that her heal was very stuck and was laughing so hard that all she could do was stand there until the Maitre D'came running to her assistance with a butter knife. It took him 5 minutes to pry her from the floor.

Last spring my husband and 2 of my sons (16 & 13) were on the Carnival Triumph sailing the western Caribbean. On our Catamaran snorkeling excursion several of the passengers were enjoying the crappy free booze a little too much. They started a conga line and this one particularly large woman, dressed in very little of course, got drunk enough to start flirting with the crew. All of the sudden I saw both my sons' mouths drop open and their eyes fly wide open and I turned to see what they were looking at. The woman had taken off her top and had thrown herself onto her back onto a counter and was trying to get the crew to put lotion on her cantelopes. :o They were so shocked! It was like the old Ray Stevens song about the streaker. I told them not to look but it was too late, they'd already had a free shot!

Hello everybody, this is your actionnews reporter

With all the news that is news across the nation

On the scene at the super market

There seems to have been some disturbance here

Pardon me sir, did you see what happened?

Yeh, I did...I was standing over there by the tomatoes

And here he come

Running thru the pole beans, thru the fruits and vegetables

Naked as a jay-bird

And I hollered over at Ethel...I said don't look Ethel

It was too late, she'd already been incensed...

Here he comes, boogie-dy, boogie-dy

There he goes, boogie-dy, boogie-dy

And he ain't wearin' no clothes

Oh yes, they call him the streak

Fastest thing on two feet

He's just as proud as he can be

Of his anatomy

He's gonna give us a peek

Oh yes, they call him the streak

He likes to show off his physique

If there's an audience to be found

He'll be streakin' around

Invitin' public critique...

This is your action news reporter onceagain

And we're here at the gas station

Pardon me sir, did you see what happened?

Yeh, I did...I was just in here gettin' my tires checked

And he just appeared out of the traffic

Come streakin' around the grease rack there

Didn't have nothing on but a smile

I looked in there and Ethel was gettin' her a cold drink

I hollered...Don't look Ethel

It was too late...She'd already been mooned

Flashed her right there in front of the shock absorbers

He ain't rude, boogie-dy, boogie-dy

He ain't lewd, boogie-dy, boogie-dy

He's just in the mood to run in the nude

Oh yes, they call him the streak

He likes to turn the other cheek

He's always making the news

Wearin' just his tennis shoes

Guess you could call him unique...

Once again, your action news reporterin the booth at the gym

Covering the disturbance at the basketball playoffs

Pardon me sir, did you see what happened?

Yeh, I did...half-time, I was just going down there

To get Ethel a snow cone

Here he come right our of the cheap seats

Dribblin'...right down the middle of the court

Yup, I do know to request that my DOD be in a regular glass. The only time I did want a souvenir glass was in Alaska, when I had hot chocolate in a nice thermal cup. I still use that at home!

Glorya -- Funny you should say that... 11 years later & we still have our Princess Thermal Mug from our Alaska Cruise...

We were on a cruise in the Caribbean and our ship got a distress call. We had to rescue some people trying to make it from Cuba to Florida. We rescued them and watched their makeshift raft sink just a short while after we got them on board. A little while later, we got another call to rescue someone. It was 2 US citizens that were on a small yacht stranded in the ocean. We rescued them as well - turns out they were wanted by the FBI for money laundering. Yeah - it was a strange cruise!!

Over many years of cruising (mainly on NCL), I have heard passengers ask some truly weird questions when talking to a crew member or at the reception desk:

"Does this ship generate its own electricity?"

(No. it uses very long extension cords.)

"Does the crew live on the ship?"

(Most of them commute from home.)

"Isn't it dangerous for the Captain to be walking around the ship when he should be steering it?"

(Yes, we live in constant dread . . . )

"When the ship crosses into a new time zone, shouldn't it stop and wait for the time to catch up with it?"

(Only when sailing westward.)

"I can swim at least 100 yards, so if the ship sinks less than 100 yards from shore, would I need to put on my life-jacket?"

(Why waste a perfectly good life-jacket.)

When told that the ship makes all the water it needs from sea water: "What if they run out of sea water?"

(They would purify all the Perrier and seltzer on board.)

"Since the Captain can perform marriages, does he also do divorces?"

(The Wedding Chapel is not a Divorce Court.)

These are so funny, this post should start a new thread.

This thread is hilarious!   Not as funny as most of the stories here, but this one sticks out in my mind on my family's first cruise.  We decided to take a March Break cruise with friends (March 2011) on the Disney Magic.  On one of our excursions, I think St. Martin, we were on the bus back to port.  A truck broke down in front of the bus and we were trapped behind it.  We weren't moving for quite some time so rather than wait for a tow truck, my friend decides to lead the passengers off the bus and push the truck out of the way... My friend is the woman in front.  We made it back to the ship.  :classic_laugh:

A few years ago, I was sailing on the NCL Pearl during Spring Break. I had just gotten back on board after visiting (and drinking at) Senor Frog's in Cozumel. I was on my balcony watching people returning to the ship, and I saw about 7-8 people walking up the pier, pushing a wheelchair with a young man in it. Of course, one's first thought is, "poor guy, that young and disabled." Found out later that night, at Bliss Ultra, that the chap in the wheelchair had simply been toooo drunk to walk! 😜

They should have a pick up truck that they pile them into and dump them at the foot of the gangway!  :)

On my very first cruise in 2002 out of NOLA, on the last sea day there was a young man (I don't know which politically correct term to use anymore) who was dressed in a long sequin dress, wearing a perfectly coiffed wig and gorgeous make-up, looking absolutely fabulous and selling Tupperware on the Lido Deck by the pool.  🙂  Security didn't seem to mind...   That set my expectations for future cruises.  🤣
