absolutely and be sure to put your key card (stateroom card in) and register. You will accumulate points and may get free drinks, $10 credit and possibly even a casino credit for your next cruise.

I use cash a lot (budget) and always still put in my key card.

Trust me...they are happy to take your cash. Kazu is right...be sure to put in your card. We have recently received a small casino credit because we've made them so happy. Even if you're playing at the tables they will ask for your card. One thing I've started doing instead of using cash is to charge it on the card. Although it doesn't give you credit towards mariner days it gives me mileage. Then I just pay it when I get home with the cash I actually took with me on the cruise. You just need to be really disciplined when you do it this way. Enjoy your cruise. The Eurodam is a great ship!!

Can you use cash in the casino on the Eurodam and is it dollars?

Are you talking about table games? If so, you'll exchange cash for chips. Slots are electronic and on your account/room card. You can have them credit your account with your cash. Slots automatically keep track of your play. On table games, you want to give your card to the pit boss when you obtain your chips. He or she will monitor your table play for rating and perk purposes.

Actually at the slots, no one keeps track if you just put in cash and don't put in your card. You do need to put in the card and register it. Whether you charge to your on board account or use cash doesn't matter. But no card in the slots, means no one keeps track. Just my experience ;)

I didn't realize there was a cash option, as I'm a blackjack player. I thought they were totally electronic. I do know they make a lot of very annoying racket in the casino, especially the one that meows like a cat!

LOL - I thought the Wheel of Fortune was louder :p

Yes, in the slots you have the option to charge to your onboard acount or put in cash. The machine is happy to suck up whatever way you want to pay. :p:D;)

Just to clarify a bit: even if you play for cash you must insert your key-card and keep it there while playing in order to have a "bank" where your balance is stored should you decide to move to another machine or quit playing and cash out at the cage.

I like to play both tables and slots but take my own set budget in cash. Hubby does not play and would be mortified if I charged it what he does not know wont hurt him.

Looking forward to it now. must get some dollars and the exchange rate is dire

We gambled every night of our 12 day cruise on the Eurodam. We loved the dealers and pit bosses. They have a great deal every night where you pay $10 for a lotto ticket, drink, match play card, and 2-for-1 black jack tournament entry.

This is probably a stupid question...Is there any charge (percentage?) for charging table game casino cash to your room card? Some cruise lines add a percentage charge.

The 3% charge is correct at the table. But...if you have money sitting on your card they will give you the money off your card at no charge. I made some money on the slots, left it on the card and got cash at the table...no charge.

I just got off a 24 day cruise on the Maasdam and the were charging 3% to people that requested cash advances at the tables.

There wasn't any charge for the machines.

Thanks. This is just what I needed to know. I understand that there are alternatives, like buying casino chips on-line before departure. Or arranging a line of credit to my checking account. I think I will pursue those options to avoid carrying a lot of cash.

I'm a blackjack player. Would chew ground glass before I'd play a slot machine :). Like you, I don't like to carry a lot of cash. So I wire "front money" to the Ocean Players Club before a cruise. Then all you do is give your key card to the dealer and tell him/her how many chips you want. Unless the table's computer link is broken (happens sometimes). Then you just go to the cage and tell the cashier how much cash you want. Very simple.

Now here's a caveat: I don't feel that the Ocean Players Club site is secure enough to use their online form for a credit-line application. Furthermore, I know FOR CERTAIN that ANY communication with OCP through their contact link is also sent to Bayshore Solutions.com, the company that designs (and presumably administers) their web site. Well, I don't know about you, but I feel that any financial information that I choose to share is for "eyes only" of the Ocean Players Club and not the folks that design their web site. Not tellin' tales out of school here, as I've already registered this complaint with them.

I really was amused when I read your post..:D

Like you I take my own cash to put in the slots.. My DH also does not play & would be quite upset if he found out that I had charged my very small amount of gambling $$ to our cabin..
