Which Los Angeles port does HAL use?

Our only debarkation in LA (2008) was at Long Beach. I think San Pedro and Long Beach are about the same distance from the city center. See map and some info about each HERE

The main port in LA is San Pedro, there is also a port in Long Beach. HAL doe not use these port, HAL sails out of Sn Diego.
HAL currently has 5 cruises listed as originating in LA, but two of them are just segments of the 82-day Grand Asia.

We are booked on the 82-day cruise, sailing on 9/30/2018. Does this make San Pedro the likely port?

I don't know. The cruisetimetables link said "Ships dock at the Word Cruise Center, except most (but not all) Carnival-group ships which dock at Long Beach." But posts 2 and 5 say San Pedro. Time to call HAL I guess.

San Pedro is the port HAL has always used for our L.A. stops. Someone asked about proximity to the city center and convenient hotels. If you're asking about downtown Los Angeles - it's about 45 minutes away with lots of freeway traffic. There are a few smaller local hotels in San Pedro. You'll find a wider choice of hotels across the bridge in Long Beach (Hyatt, etc.) - about a 10 to 15 minute Uber drive away.

Convenient hotels nearby?
Nearest large hotel I could find is the Crowne Plaza Harbor Hotel at 601 S. Palos Verdes St, about a mile away. There's a Doubletree 2.5 miles away at 2800 Via Cabrillo-Marina Edited by catl331

I did a transPacific cruise on Volendam in2015 and we left from the Carnival Pier at Longbeach so stayed one night on the Queen Mary which is just a walk away from the Carnival Pier

I thought about the Queen Mary, but then I thought: We're going to spend 82 nights on the ship - do I really want to spend my last night on another ship! Tell me more about the Queen, pls. We did a QM2 crossing last May and enjoyed her. Beautiful ship, but wasn't crazy about the so-so food. I don't think that would be a problem on the Long Beach Queen.

Late to the thread, but for future reference, the official Port of Los Angeles

cruise ship schedule, including whether Berth 91, 92, or 93, is at

https://www.portsamerica.com/cruise/los-angeles-terminal-calendar.html

If the notation is "B46" (Berth 46), you're docking in Long Beach.

Sorry! B46 is NOT in Long Beach. It's a remote/outer harbor berth in the the Port of L.A./San Pedro

Thank you. I sit corrected.

While cross-checking my post, I saw that an Amsterdam was docking at

Berth 46 and after jumping to the conclusion it was HAL's MS Amsterdam

(instead of SV Stad Amsterdam?) it was obvious that Berth 46 was Long

Beach. :o D'oh!

I guess that means the LA/Long Beach complex has 2½ cruise ship places.

Were I booked on that Amsterdam, no doubt I'd still be looking for Berth 46

when she sailed.

No probs; it can get confusing! Long Beach has one cruise berth, usually taken up by a Carnival ship. L.A./San Pedro has three berths incl that remote B46 Have a nice one!
