The point I was making is that HAL took some of the new items in Koningsdam & added those into the Oosterdam in her last dry dock .

All I wanted to know from folks ,who are in the know are what are the items that HAL incorporated from Koningsdam into Oosterdam ,during her last dry dock

Please answer if you know the items that were incorporated into Oosterdams latest dry dock ?

TIA

Oosterdam's last drydock was in April 2016 and she had several changes - conversion of Northern Lights Disco to Gallery Bar, Conversion of Sport Bar/Piano Bar to Billboard onboard dueling piano lounge (open to casino which is now non-smoking), conversion of forward half of Explorers Lounge to Lincoln Center Stage, reworking of seating in Ocean Bar with removal of bandstand/dance floor but still has a piano by railing for evening music. Pinnacle Grill got completely new decor. Lido was reconfigured to the "Marketplace" concept featuring more individual food stations and less long buffet lines (and less serve yourself items - most food now served by staff cafeteria style rather than buffet style) Cabins were touched up and suites got a complete refresh. Carpets and upholstery were refreshed around the ship as well.

I believe that the "Adagio Strings" (piano and violin) in the Explorers' Lounge has been upgraded on the Oosterdam to "Lincoln Center Live". This is a 4 person string quartet, specially scored music, and a variety of 30 minute concerts that are true performances and not background music. I LOVED this on the Kdam and am looking forward to it on the Oosterdam later this month.

We were on the Oosterdam during the first cruise post dry dock, and there were a few issues with cleanliness and also with the toilets, but those were all addressed and corrected during that cruise. We have sailed on her twice since then and had ABSOLUTELY NO COMPLAINTS. The smoke free casino is a real plus, wish this was the policy on all HAL ships. The furnishings are clean, the public areas accommodating, and the staff and crew smiling and happy. While I prefer the smaller HAL ships, we're always pretty happy to get back on the Oosterdam.

I was on the Oosterdam last month and the LIdo buffet looked and functioned about the same to me (as compared to several other Vista-class cruises). If there was a change, it was very minor.

No band in the Ocean Bar. The Explorers Lounge has been replaced (one-half) by a glorified bleacher arrangement. The former Explorers Lounge is a shell of the gracious space it once was, and the library has been decimated. The cabins have been refreshed and improved, a plus bot overall if you like the old HAL go with the older ships of the S and R (I think) class.

I thought so too before our recent Oosterdam cruise, but the new Lincoln Center Stage turned out to be the highlight of the evening entertainment. The piano quintet with American trained musicians was just fantastic (I have nothing against musicians from other countries). The extra seating was in fact necessary and there remains the older lounge setup in the adjoining Explorer's Bar. It is a win-win situation.
