New to Marella - Booking question.

Recommended Posts

Apologies if this seems a silly question, but we are considering a late booking to the Western Med for November and hoping for a junior balcony suite. Unlike other lines, the cabin availability isn't shown during the online booking process, and we do like to choose the position of our cabin carefully. Can any of you seasoned Marella cruisers help me?

If we go ahead and book what do you think the chances are of getting a cabin in a good position (ie not too forward or aft) at this late stage.

If we use a travel agent, do we find out our cabin at the same time?

Thanks for any info you can give me.

Use a TUI travel agent shop. normally you book your cruise and then select your cabin, if one is available. I have used the same TA for years and they understand that if the cabin(s) I want are not available I won't pay the deposit.

as I understand it online you book the cruise and pay the deposit, only then can you attempt to reserve a cabin, if a suitable one is not available, tough

If you pay the 48 Pound cabin booking fee when you make your reservation (or any time up to 15 days before departure) you will be able to see which are still available and book whichever suits you best. We booked our cabin today for out next cruise on 21st October and out of 6 we had earmarked midships 4 were still available. Daft thing is that, although we book the cruise/excursions on line, we have to phone Marella to find our what cabin availability there is/book what we want.

I go through the booking process on line and when I get to the pay page I ring and check cabin availability The cabin booking person then does a dummy booking exactly as I have done and tells me which cabins of my choice are free They then on request wait on line whilst I complete the payment and get my booking ref no I give them my booking ref no and they then book the cabin of choice I have done this for the last 4 years with no problems and booked 6 cruises last year for this year and 2 cruises this year for next year. Just explain what you are doing when you get through Must say it's easier if speaking to Swansea than South Africa though Good Luck

Hi,we've booked a deluxe balcony on the D2.We will take what they give us.I am assuming that all these balconies are in a good location anyway.Correct me if we are making a big mistake, cheers,Brian.

Thanks for the replies.

Vitalsign, we followed your advice and found out which cabins were still available before we pressed the 'pay now' button. Got a junior suite in a good position. It's a long winded way of doing it, but we do like to know our cabin location beforehand.
