Suite perks on the Dawn

Recommended Posts

I see that the dawn going out of Boston to Bermuda the summer does have pent houses and two bedroom penthouses other than the size of the room is there any sweet perks like you would have on the jewel class or higher such as a Haven area.

True, there is no Haven on the Dawn but the suite perks are still wonderful. You will have your butler and concierge, priority embarkation and disembarkation, and because there is no Haven restaurant you will have breakfast and lunch in Cagneys. Besides the penthouses and 2 bedroom suites there are also the family suites on deck 12 and the Owner's and Deluxe Owner's suites. We love the suite life on the Dawn.

Thanks, I have done the Pearl twice in the Gem twice in the courtyard / Haven and really enjoyed the private pool area. It might be worth a few extra hour drive to New York City to hit the Gem this summer. I think that the ship makes the trip more so than the itinerary as the Bahamas and Bermuda are both beautiful this time of year

Another perk if you choose an owner's suite is 3 bottles of liquor plus mixers, soda and water.

OS or DOS Haven's Gardens the high end Suites get 3 or more bottles of

booze limited selection but ask your Butler for alternates or substitutions.

BUT really with the Suites getting all the Promos (UBP) what's to worry

other than having the bottle in suite to pour your very own drink mixed/made

to your liking. The booze bottles vary in price from $80 something to over a

hundred - so having the complimentary bottles in your stateroom is the

equivalent of $300 to maybe just under $1k. For non-suite staterooms you

can call Room Service and buy a bottle or two with mixers - and of course

add the gratuity and taxes not found with the booze in the suites.

Whether you find the UBP particular appealing or having the bottle right at

hand in cabin is available for all guests except minors - ah decision time ?!!!

If you are driving to NYC, then jump on the Breakaway for a "real" Havens experience with a private dining room, larger courtyard and sundeck area.

We live just south of Boston and there is nothing like getting off the ship and being home before 10 am.

We have cruised the Dawn four different suite categories, we have had some good butlers, and some incredible butlers, our last butler, Dominic, was the best ever!!

Why, besides the room? In non Haven suite perks seem pretty limited?

Concierge Service identical to Havens

Private Dining (breakfast and lunch) identical to Havens

Room Amenities identical to Havens

White Tablecloth room service identical to Havens

The only difference in perks between regular suites and Haven suites is the access to Haven itself, nothing more. (And since there is no Haven restaurant to go to, no private dinner venue available.)

We are sailing the Jewel this coming January and are staying in a SF aft penthouse. I understand we will receive the same am entities as the haven; but since we don't have access to The Haven, do we not have a private breakfast and lunch ?? If we do where is it ?

Only new megaships (Epic and newer) have dedicated Haven restaurant that serves also dinner (on those ships there are no regular suites, all suites are Haven suites regardless of the location).

All older ships (Jewel class included) use one of the speciality restaurants for VIP breakfast and lunch, usually Cagney's and/or Moderno. So on Jewel class ships even Haven suites do not get VIP dinner.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I never paid attention to the deck plans on Jewel class ships and assumed the Haven area had the restaurant and lounge on those ships.

Don't really use the private dining as much, use the concierge and priority embarkation and debarkation the most.

We are staying in a Haven on Getaway next year and am excited for that to.

Don't the Haven suites have a separate pool/sitting area where you don't have to get up 8am and reserve pool chairs and or be in and with a huge noisy crowd? If so, that's a big advantatge.

Don't they have the equivalent of a concierge lounge or CL Michaels Club (Michaels is a great suite benefit)?

Havens dining rooms sounds like a premium, first class dining room.

Otherwise as it relates to the following:

Butler Service idenetical Havens

-- Yes, thats potentially a nice perk

Concierge Service identical to Havens

-- Not sure how meaningful this is going to be, but we were shut out of our preferred Cagneys dinner times, so maybe this person can help here...otherwise, not sure where's the beef?

Private Dining (breakfast and lunch) identical to Havens

-- I am curious about this and how good it is...is there unlimited free "fresh-ish" OJ for breakfast?

Room Amenities identical to Havens

-- What amenities are you referring to...are the shampoos and lotions something super premium, or are you talking about the 3 bottles of booze, etc.?

White Tablecloth room service identical to Havens

-- Won't use, but thanks

Escorted Priority Tendering identical to Havens

-- Bermuda walk on/off, no need

Escorted Priority Disembarkation identical to Havens

-- Live in Boston, will stay on as long as possible, then 7 min cab ride home, but ok...I presume also includes priority boarding, boarding waiting area etc.

Thans for everyone's input...I think the suite perks on other cruise lines are more special, but we're leaving in two days on this ship, and I'm sure we'll have a great time and make the most of it.

I apologize if this has already been answered, but can someone tell me the earliest time that suite guests are allowed to embark? This will be our second time on the Dawn, but first in a suite, and would like to arrive close to boarding time.

Thank you :)

Already arrived suite guests are pretty much the first ones to board (before the general boarding starts) – regardless of the port or ship, the boarding starts usually between 11am and noon, most likely around 11:30 or shortly after.

Yes and you get a separate area to sit in, if you get there early enough you get a seat, other wise its fills up. They have mini sandwiches and coffee and tea and water for you and the concierge is usual there to greet you also.

***Depends on which ship you are on. On Jewel class and smaller ships, there is usually a place where the concierge is, and they will tell you where. On bigger ships, there is a concierge lounge

*** yes, the concierge will help you with that. They will also help with shore excursions, printing boarding passes (if needed), etc. basically, if you ever need to wait in line a guest services, the concierge will help with it. They will also reserve seating for suite guests in the theater

Private Dining (breakfast and lunch) identical to Havens

**** it is very good. It includes things not normally found at other venues. And yes, there is OJ available in unlimited quantities.

Room Amenities identical to Havens

-- What amenities are you referring to...are the shampoos and lotions something super premium, or are you talking about the 3 bottles of booze, etc.?

****the room will come with Bvlgari shampoo, soap, lotion, lip balm, hand creme, etc. there is also a fruit bowl that will be replenished upon consumption, daily snacks brought by the butler, a bottle of sparkling wine, and a nice flower arrangement. The liquor is only for owners suites and above.

The first suites guests will board around 11:15. You will be escorted to Cagney's / Mondernos for an orientation and lunch. You need to allow time to check in. While there is a dedicated desk, if there are multiple parties showing up, you'll need to queue for the agent.
