Oceanview vs. Balcony and upgrade potential

Yes there is. You apply for these the same way as any upgrade but the cost will be more than $398.

I see they have added this paragraph:

* NEW! Reduced stateroom upgrades are now available for guests who book Club Continent Suites. Upgrades will be from Club Continent Suites to Club Spa Suites, Club Ocean Suites, and Club World Owners Suites. Pricing will vary, and will not be $398 USD per stateroom.

since I last looked. It wasn't there when we booked this cruise, so that's why I thought I had to phone LCV to ask -- and since so many CO and CW choices were available, it seems not very many others knew about it either. Thanks for pointing this out.

Prior to this you could also get an offer of the Spa/CO/CW upgrade if you were in an ordinary balcony cabin, ie upgrade to a CC and then if there were some left, depending upon how far up the list you were with loyalty they would offer you a paid upgrade to the other suites. I'm guessing with this new policy balcony cabins are precluded from the upgrade offer. This of course gives a better chance to those already paying for a CC Suite to get one of the bigger suites for a great price. Which is fair.

You had posted that once after we booked that cabin, so I was happy to hear your assessment :) We will be happy not to be under the Cabaret Lounge, and hopefully will not hear the anchor drop, either. But at a minimum, it won't be as loud.

We were right next door on our Jan 15th cruise. I’ve never been in such a quiet cabin in my life and it was a convenient location for a lot of things. The only thing we ever heard was when one of the lifeboats was lowered but I think that only happened a couple times. It wasn’t an issue. A lot quieter than an anchor
