First week of October

We sailed 2 years ago in August to Alaska roundtrip form Seattle and loved it. We hopefully have another opportunity to go again this year. We loved when we went in mid august, but this year we are unsure of when we can go. We saw there is a sailing Sept 30th into the first week of October. Question-how is Alaska then? Still any wildlife, snowy? Mostly concerned about wildlife.

Just a little reading down the board would reveal many discussions about cruising Alaska in September...it gets colder, wetter and darker as the month progresses. There have been significant (negative) weather events in September. Sailing in October is a little new, but I think you can see the trend.

We have always preferred mid to late May for 3 of our 4 Alaska cruises. We did one in early September...let's just say we'll continue to stick with May. So I can't imagine October.

The weather can be really bad or really nice.... What ship is this? There are no ships scheduled in the major Alaska ports after the end of September. My concern would be about shore activities and tours. Most tourist venues would be shut down by then.
