Cruise Alaska North, Land Tour, then Cruise Alaska South

Has anyone ever cruised to Anchorage, done a land tour for a week or more, then return south via cruise leaving out of Anchorage? If so, please share your experiences!

Just to clarify... Cruises don't leave out of Anchorage. They either go from/to Seward, about two hours south of Anchorage or Whittier (an hour south of Anchorage).

Land tour: the cruise lines offer their pre-packaged trips, but I would recommend you look into renting a car and putting together your own great trip. A lot of travelers cruises through Southeast Alaska with a land trip in Southcentral & Interior Alaska.

We are doing the Northern cruise from Vancouver to Seward then we are doing the post-cruse land tour though RCI. It would depend on how long your land tour was to make it work from Seward.

We are doing that this summer, but only for 4 days land. I am only planning on Denali area, as I want a better chance of seeing the mountain and I heard sometimes it is hidden by clouds for days/weeks.
