I will be sailingwith the Classic Beverage Package. Since I’m not terribly fussyabout what brand of alcohol is used (within reason), I doubt that Ineed to upgrade to the Premium Package. However, I am wondering aboutmartinis. Will I be able to order martinis at most bars without anextra charge? What about the martini bar? Do all of their martinisexceed the classic package limit? Can you order other mixed drinksthere, or is it just martinis? Is it true that the martinis there arelarger than other bars?

In September on the Equinox Martinis at the Martini Bar were $12 with one being $14 and the Martini flight was $26.

Other bars had martinis that were $10

The Martinis at the Martini bar are larger than at the other bars.

The Martini bar does serve other drinks as my DH drank Don Julio Anejo all week.

You won't need to upgrade. You can simply pay the difference over your limit of $9.

The martinis in the martini bar are larger than in other bars and there is quite an extensive menu to try. You can also order some other drinks there.

With the classic package, you can not pay the difference for drinks over the allotted price limits. That is only for premium package.

It changed recently so you only pay the difference on both Classic and Premium packages.

Just to further muddy the waters, i HAVE been able to get a martini at the martini bar, and have it covered by the classic drink package.

(I guess it was a “standard” martini) Yes, it was in a smaller glass, so drink two lol

This was the case several years ago. I suppose some bartender may allow it, but it would be rare.

You do not pay any tax or gratuity on any included drink. If however, you order a drink over the limit you will be charged a gratuity on the difference (example: a $12 martini with a $9 limit you will be charged $3.54 $3.00 + $0.54 gratuity)

Thank you for your quick response.

One cruise that I was on didn’t serve any martinis covered by the classic package at the Martini Bar. The excuse was that they didn’t have any small Martini glasses at that bar. I asked it they could make it and pour into a regular glass. That solved that problem and it tasted the same. Purists may not agree and I am sure that the Reidel company would be ready to prove differently but sometimes you have to improvise or compromise. Being in a Manhattan glass also made better use of the frosted bar to keep the drink cold. All that Frosted Bar does for a regular martini glass is make it stick and cause the drink to spill out.

Drink up 🍸🍷🍹🥂🍺🍻

Yes you can get a limited number of martini flavors (maybe 3 or 4?) and in a smaller glass at the Martini Bar on all ships. Just do not try and get say a chocolate martini for instance unless you have the Premium package or you are willing to pay more.

I disagree that you can get a limited number of martinis in a smaller glass at the Martini Bar on all ships. . I sail Summit 5 to 6 times per year and I know for a fact that they will not serve you the "classic package" martini at the Martini Bar. Note that several years ago they did serve the "classic size" martinis at the Martini Bar - but no more.

On our first cruise with a drink package (classic), I had no trouble getting a smaller martini in the Martini Bar. On later cruises, I guess I'd heard here on Cruise Critic that I could no longer do that so I didn't bother. It wasn't a big deal since I find the Martini Bar to be overcrowded and under serviced. But, I could get a martini at other bars so I was happy. On our last cruise, we had a free premium package and I found myself again at the Martini Bar to try a chocolate martini. I'm usually just a vodka and vermouth drinker but those were really tasty! Still, I didn't care for the atmosphere at the Martini Bar. And the World Class Bar . . . seriously . . . I found one drink on their menu that I liked. The Casino Bar hooked me up with some great scotch.
