$2.75 one way now. Incidentally, how do you pay? (cash, CC)??

You can now buy a day pass with unlimited rides for $5.5 cash from bus driver. $2 for seniors 65+. Super cheap way to get around Honolulu.

Just received an email from HAL that the Arizona Memorial tour that we booked through HAL will be closed for our cruise in Mar 2019. I knew they were fixing what ever was broken but thought it would be fixed by Mar. 2019. They will do a harbour tour of Battle Ship Row, we just can't go on the Memorial.

Dave, what if we ARE retired Navy? Wouldn't we still have to take the bus from the visitors center?

If you have a rental car I assume you could go over to Pearl and get a temp pass for your rental and then head to Ford Island. There is navy housing and some other navy stuff there. Plus you would also have the benefit of being able to see the Utah which you don't get to see when taking the bus. There is parking near the aviation museum and i can only assume there is some near the Missouri as well.

I think that there was a post on CC this year that even though you do not board the Arizona you cruise around it, see the oil coming to the surface, and actually get to see a lot of things you did not see before. Didn't sound disappointing to me at all. Hope you enjoy your visit to PH. Cherie

Thanks for the info!! We were already thinking about renting a car and this info may just seal the deal.

Trying to figure out Pearl Harbor. We don't want to spend hours there and are planning to go the day the cruise leaves. I waited to last minute and there are no Arizona tickets available. What is the best plan to get the most out of visit for least amount of time? Are the arizona tickets for the cruise around?

The tickets are for the free harbor cruise which has replaced going on the Arizona Memorial which is closed due to structural issues.

Here’s a link to the Hawaii Visitors Bureau webpage with all of the things you could do in PH & Ford Island so you can decide which are of interest to you.

  • 2 months later...

I was going to try and buy tickets online next week. Does anyone know which ticket I should get to make sure we can see as much as possible. Is the only different the head set vs self guided, vs a guide?

Guessing you’re asking about USS Missouri tours?

I don’t know about the current options but years ago there was an escorted Admiral’s tour that went to spaces not available on other tours or independently. You could read the descriptions on their website of the various options to decide which is your best option.
