Power leads and sockets - Independence of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

First time cruise with RCI (been on P&O and Cunard before).

UK based.

I read yesterday that RCI do not allow you to take electrical extension leads on board - is this true?

Assuming it is true, what power sockets are in the cabins and are they easy to access?

Ta.

IIRC there's only a couple of sockets and they're US & Euro types! I've used the cube style travel adaptors for a number of years now that pretty much fit any plug in whichever way you need it to! They have usb on them too?

I've known of people who still take extension leads on board and hide them when not in the cabin, but it's a safety issue and it's fairly easy to use said adaptors like I say!

Amazon sell them and IMO they're well worth the investment!

There's plenty of choice, but you get the idea I'm sure?

Ps .. enjoy Royal Caribbean - never done Cunard, but a few on P&O and i doubt I'll go back

There is also a handy USB port in the side of the new telephones by the bed.

Is this true on all ships? I've never noticed this so either the ships I've cruised have not yet received the new telephones or I didn't know and never noticed.

Hi,

Thanks all.

So no U.K. style sockets?

And how do people get extension leads on board - aren’t all bags scanned?

Correct, no UK sockets, only US and Euro.

it Seems Royal has a new no extension cord policy that has been discussed in several threads

Obviously, you never read the link you posted in post #10, copied here:

https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/q...onboard-policy

that says: "Prohibited Items" "Electrical Extension Cords"

My plan is to bring these three items
