Email notifying us that embarkation won't start until 12:30 because of an immigration inspection and Coast Guard inspection. Do you think Luminae will stay open for lunch later because of that (we are in RS)?

We are on this cruise also.. We had a similar situation on our Hawaii cruise on Solstice last May. It was the 1st stop in the USA since coming back from Australia. I dont remember if Luminae stayed open longer. Luminae normally stops taking guest at 1:30. We did make it to Luminae before they closed their doors. As your in a RS. You could email your shoreside concierge.

I assume you're speaking of the Reflection? I'm on that cruise too. Anything can happen concerning embarkation that day. We'll all need to be patient and hope for the best, but it's possible that none of us will get lunch.

Shoreside Concierge....what is that? We've gotten a minimal amount of information from Celebrity other than a receipt for our payment and luggage tags. And the website is no help at all.

You should receive an email about 10 days pre cruise re your room set up. You can let them know about the spirits you want in your room, bar set up, pillow preferences....We usually get them to book our first two nights speciality restaurants at this point too.

This would be a good opportunity to ask about Luminae and possible alternatives if there is a significant boarding delay. If answers are uncertain (not a criticism staff don't always have full answers) then on boarding head to Michael's and check with the concierge.

If you are unsure of the other perks that come with your suite keep asking!

Hope you enjoy your cruise!

  • 1 month later...

The thing about Coast Guard and Immigration inspections (this often happens when a ship repositions back the USA) is that they are unpredictable. The cruise lines are at the complete mercy of the government officials,,,,,and it is the cruise line that gets the complaints for a situation that is not of their making. Not much passengers can do but smile, relax, and go with the flow. Celebrity does deserve some kudos for at least notifying cruisers of the potential delay. This is not the case with most other cruise lines. Last year we cruised on the Eclipse right after an inspection. Nobody could board to about 1:15 and once aboard things were really behind and somewhat confused. It turned out that the Immigration folks decided to do a face to face with much of the crew...which not only delayed everything, but took many off the crew away from their stations just as they would have been preparing for the passengers. I guess the good news is that this does not happen often....but the bad news is that if it happens to you it does become annoying.
