After all the misery of Hurricane Irma, Maasdam will be the first blue-hulled HAL ship to visit Port Everglades/Ft. Lauderdale, FL for the 2017 Fall/Winter season.

As of right now, her arrival is scheduled for 6:00 AM local and she's assigned Berth 26, one of the "regular" HAL berths. Her departure is scheduled for 4:00 PM when Captain Arno Jutten will take her south into the Caribbean for a call at Cartagena, Colombia on Saturday, a Panama Canal transit and, eventually, an arrival in San Diego, CA on 27 Sep 2017

The action can be seen at:

The next HAL ship in Port Everglades will not be until 18 Oct 2017 when Koningsdam makes a call

Just checked her location and she is just east of West Palm Beach (about 50 miles north of FLL) doing about 11.5 knots. Looks like she should arrive very close to her scheduled time.

Port cams are down this morning. AIS says she's docking at #26 right now,

Maasdam reported on the port schedule (https://pevvesseltraffic.broward.org/webx/) as arriving at 6:40. I think that is the time the pilot is picked up. 2 cruise ships left between 9 and 11 PM so it appears that arrivals must be in daylight but departures at night are permitted.

Carnival Splendor probably came back from a mission to keep cruisers safe. It's next cruise is not until tomorrow.

Thanks, Roy, I thought it might be something like that for Splendor - not necessarily a mission but a time adjustment schedule.

And leaving in the dark, sounds reasonable, people are having to arrive and get around these damaged port cities.

Four ships in port today:

Maasdam - 4 PM departure

Allure Of The Seas - 4:30 PM departure

Carnival Sensation - 2 PM departure

Carnival Splendor - no departure info, perhaps used for employee housing?

Splendor is temporary CCL employee housing last night and tonight. There are still over a million homes without power in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Pretty much all the cruise lines are headquartered down here. Four days without a/c in our lovely Florida summer - and then going to work and having people yell because they don't know their updated itineraries can't be fun.

It cannot be easy in the heat and no power; some of our friends and family in South Florida have power, others not so lucky. Nobody had major damage - but still need to hear about cousins in Miami area about there warehouse - it was underwater. Another's restaurant did not lose power apparently.

I saw on CC that HMC did not have much damage and Carnival will be calling there soon.
