Just back from 14 day Rotterdam cruise

Stateroom 6130 - Three of us, 2 had walkers. Family time with mom and dad before the chaos of Christmas. The stateroom has lots of room and storage. The balcony was great for us. The couch turned into a nice bed and the curtain pulled to make a separate room. AC was nice and cold and no plumbing problems. We loved the room and would book again.

Food:

Early seating - food was some of the best. The prime rib was amazing. It was offered 3 nights and did not disappoint. The portion sizes were perfect for us.

Lido - Lunch and breakfast - Omelets and french toast were made to order, hot and fresh. The raisin rolls are still the best. Fresh fruit selection were very tasty. Lunch was Asian station (spicy), fresh made pizza or sandwiches. Some sandwiches were pre-made (loved the selection) and they had a made to order with carved meat and some lunch meat selections. The ice cream was chocolate, vanilla strawberry and a 'guest flavor'. We had pistachio, butter pecan, coffee chocolate chip, mint chocolate chip, macadamia nut and a few others. We ate our share of ice cream.

Exploration Cafe - Had a few coffees in the afternoon. In the evening after dinner we would get a large chocolate chip cookies to take back to the cabin. The Exploration Cafe is outside the dining room on deck 5. This is the first time that we found that they had fresh dipped chocolate covered strawberries. They were a wonderful treat. Dad had one quite often. We must of picked up fresh fruit along the way.

Library - Nice selection of books in regular and large print. No librarian, honor system.

Movies - This is where they failed. It was a terrible selection. In 14 days, there were 2 that we liked. They had movies like Planet of the Apes, the tennis movie with Billie Jean King, some cop gang movie with filthy language etc. This is one of the biggest complaints by people. They did not have the interactive TV but they did have lots of movies you could get at the front desk. We got White Christmas.

Activities - Not many. They had some kind of Oprah stretching in the morning. Quite a few pay for exercise classes. The movies they did show were at strange times. The did show a BBC series which was behind the scenes for the Animal Planet and Frozen Planet series. It was very interesting. There were 4 or 5 different shows,

Americas Kitchen - This is the one thing people wanted to attend. You needed to get there quite early. Never did make the live show. Everytime we went it was packed and 20 to 30 people were trying to stand in there to watch. They only had it on sea days and sometimes it was the same demo twice. On the TV they played some Americas kitchen on TV. These were not the demo shows and they were quite interesting.

Evening entertainment - The 4 production shows were great. The magician was good. We were not interested in the other shows. We never made it to the piano bar. We did listen to the solo piano guy in the Ocean Bar. He was really good. We also listened to the group in the piano bar. The girl who sang was not very good but the music was. They had quite a few couples dancing. First time ever heard Amazing Grace as a dance tune!

Christmas music and decorations - More decorations showed up each day. The gingerbread houses were beautiful. Here is the kicker - NO CHRISTMAS MUSIC. The only christmas song I heard was the one that the guy in the lido sang while he cooked my french toast!

Casino - Some winners some losers but it was packed. They had a few no smoking nights. We saw an eighty cent bet hit $2500.

Overall we had a great cruise. We enjoyed our time on the ship and had a very laid back cruise. If you were looking for lots of activities and things to do, you would be disappointed.
