Need Shanghai Tour Guide Recommendation Please

We will be in Shanghai in March at the end of a cruise and I’ve emailed several private tour guides I got off of Trip Advisor for Shanghai but none of them have responded.

I’ve emailed both Miki Tours and Beijing Service.

Can anyone recommend someone to me please?

We used a guide about 5 years ago and would recommend him but not sure whether he is still doing it. He was very knowledgeable esp on history and spoke English very well. If I could private message you somehow I could give you his email address...

We have visited Shanghai several times..it's actually a very easy city to see on your own..do a bit of research and consider it. You can use the MRT to get almost anywhere. Sorry but the one time we did go out to Suzhou I was a bit disappointed in the time it took to get there and what was there...JMHO

Actually I liked Suzhou very much. My cousin worked as a bio medical engineer at Johnson and Johnson in Suzhou, and so I have had an opportunity to visit on a few occasions. I love water towns, and I love gardens...and I think that Suzhou has one of the finest gardens in China. Yes, it does take about a couple of hours on the train, but I always think that local transportation is interesting. Looking forward to a bullet train in Japan. And I do agree that Shanghai is an easy city to get around in...however, many people have limited time and feel that it is easier to use a guide for whatever reasons.

We actually used a private guide to take us there since during that particular trip we were on a land tour...but I sure wouldn't care to make the trip on my own...just my personal opinion...but glad you enjoyed it.

I contacted Jean L. through tours by locals and we had a wonderful tour (most of us it was our second time in Shanghai). Jran arranged a minibus and driver for the day, so I would think you can discuss whatever itinerary you want.
