Just got off the Getaway yesterday after sailing the Western Caribbean itinerary. The ship was in the Baltics for a while and this was the 2nd Western Caribbean sailing this season so if anyone has any questions regarding the ship or the Ports I can try to help

I will be doing a detailed review in the next week or so; on the ship and the Ports we visited but can try to answer if someone has something in particular they were interested in knowing sooner.

We stopped at: Roatan, Harvest Caye, Costa Maya and Cozumel

We were on this cruise last January and enjoyed it, except the Did-embarking process was a cluster! Did they improve the process this year???

I am also curious about disembarkation. The reviews I have seen go from it being a total mess to running smoothly.

We were staying in the Haven and the disembarkation process was super speedy and efficient. We left our floor at 745am, went through customs, picked up luggage and met our ground transportation

( Larrys Limo/Car service- I highly recommend) at 8:30am to get to Fort Lauderdale for our flight out.

Just a heads up, TSA line at FLL was well over an hour wait. For those of you familiar with the airport the TSA line snaked all the way up to the Enterprise rental car counter and then back around. I have traveled out of FLL many many times and have never seen this happen before. I asked an agent and she told me this is normal for every Saturday and Sunday due to the number of cruise ship passengers flying out.

We had the Haven courtyard ( fair number of kids as NJ had no school last week but all the kids we encountered were well behaved, pretty quiet around the pool area and respectful) so didn't see any need for Vibe.

Throughout the week I did chat with many people who I met on board and several said they tried for Vibe but it was already sold out

I was also on this cruise, getting off the ship was terrible. You leave from deck 7, they wind you through the casino then come around the other side & back through the casino, it stunk like cigarettes. Once off of the ship you have to walk down several ramps to get to the terminal. There they had plenty of what I call cattle chutes, where you wind back and forth. You have to go through a bunch of these before you ride an escalator, where they tell you to keep moving at the bottom, which is hard if the people in front of you are backed up. Finally you get to where the luggage is, I grabbed mine then headed for customs. This was the easy part, I walked up to the line & got called over by an agent. That was the fastest that I ever went through customs. It just took a lot of walking and waiting for the people a head of you.

At FLL, I have never seen a line like that for TSA security. I did make it home safely.

For me it was a total mess.

How was the actual cruise (restaurant, activities) and ship? We are leaving on November 19th. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The cruise was fantastic. I was disappointed with the O'Sheehan menu, there wasn't a very large selection plus the service was slow. The pool activities were a lot of fun to watch along with the pool bands. I don't go to the shows so I have no input there. This is a large ship but it was easy to get around it without it seeming so big. Getting on was a breeze but getting off was a mess. I had no problems with any of the food while there. They upgraded me from an inside room to a balcony through my low bid, so I had a great room. The only other issue that I had was the water on the pool deck, on the crew's defense this is a continuous battle. I have bad knees so I had to be extra careful walking to avoid a slip and a fall. I really enjoyed this ship and crew. I hope this helps you. If you need more information, ask away.

I was on the same cruise.

Burn The Floor and Million Dollar Quartet were very good.

If you are into Harry Potter do not miss the Cruise Director Andre's Harry Potter Trivia.

The Celebrity Dance Off is always fun to watch.

They debut a new game show- The Big Pyramid Game Show- was also fun to watch.

With this cruise they a new Restaurant Manager (promoted the day we boarded) Chandra. He is from India as is Anil the Food and Beverage Director and Tyson the Executive Chef.

At about what time was this going on? We are leaving in 5 days for our cruise, and we have a later flight out of FLL (4:30). We got the NCL transfer to FLL so we aren't in a rush. Can we loiter somewhere? or do they make people get in the snaky line?

Last Call for passengers to leave the ship is about 10:00 A.M. They would like you to clear your cabin by 8:30 A.M.

How long did it take to get curbside start to finish?
