I receive casino cruise discounts. Great discounts for a 10 day Caribbean for $199. Not bad. However, does Princess ever disclose what you’ve spent onboard at their casino?

That is a great discount. Did you receive this recently? I am not sure about their disclosing what you spend at the casino.

My experience is that it differs with every cruise. The casino is run for the Carnival corporation by an independent contractor and often the employees don’t know what the points really mean according to one manager. The points represent what you have spent. For tax purposes they can give you a print out of wins and loses Mike

I was offered a 10 day comp cruise out of San Francisco in November for a 75k slot tournament and a 7 day out of Ft. Lauderdale in December for a 200k slot tournament. I was turned off by both itineraries, but ended up booking for December. I used up most of my vacation for the year so I need to be picky. I have never been on a vip cruise, they sound interesting. Just started cruising with Princess last year and decided it wasn’t for me, but I keep getting comp cruises.
I was just off the CB and offered a 10 day ocean view to Alaska, Mexico, California coastal or Caribbean. Tried to book yesterday but was told to call back in a week or so as the ship had not sent in the details.

I would be interested to know the sail and ship date of that $200k tournament. Wonder if I will be invited.

RMM34667,

I am on Caribbean Princess in October. Please tell me about the ship. I sailed it years ago and wonder how well it’s holding up? Did you find the casino over run?

Thanks, Alice

I didn't find the casino too overcrowded. I was always able to find something to play. Drink services was rather slow so we often had to track someone down.

I have always enjoyed the Caribbean Princess but I was not very impressed with the new buffet offerings. Crown Grill was great and the MDR ok.

Staff are great. I think it's a happy ship. It's nice to have a Princess ship in Florida all summer.

My intire family is sick with upper respiratory bug that my mom brought home from the ship.

Just finished going through the mail that arrived while we were onboard. Found my invite to the 75k tournament. Would love to go but not sure my mom could handle the flight. Wish it was still in the Caribbean

you missed my whole point people who gamble 60$ on the slots are not going to get what someone posted fact people who are not serious gamblers are not going to recieve free cruises and 1000$ fact i have been always treated very nicely by the casinos free drinks, specialty dinners and offers like this post started about i simply did not want folks being mislead and expecting something that was not going to happen people who read the posts can judge for themselves who knows what they are talking about those that dont such as yourself

I beg to differ. My wife hasn't played in the casino for at least 8 years and was more of a $20 / night player when she did. A couple of weeks ago our Princess cruise consultant and told her she was eligible for a 7 day Alaska cruise for $199 pp with a choice of several different cruise dates. No mention of any other perks but for $199 pp is good enough.

Hope you got your upcoming cruise booked already. I was told the same thing the first time I called princess, but in fact, princess wont ever have that info and you have to contact the casino department directly.

We were on a VIP cruise on the Caribbean Princess (5/1/18). We took this cruise so that we could qualify for the Ultimate VIP cruise. But after our experience on the CB - 650+ VIP cruisers.......125 slot machines, and the bedlam that prevailed, not sure we will bother with the Ultimate VIP cruise unless they give it to us and it's on a larger ship with an adequately sized casino. It was a bedlam atmosphere and getting a machine to play was extremely difficult. This might be the same on the Ruby...the casino is small. Princess (really Carnival) oversold this cruise, IMHO. A lot of people were not happy, especially when there were a lot of "high rollers" that parked at machines for the entire cruise. In 15 cruises, this is the first time we experienced this. Just my observations....for what they are worth.

And it kind of ticks me off that they are not releasing any information about this November cruise until September. How many working people can plan for a vacation on such short notice?

We were on the same cruise and the casino was packed! 3 days in I asked the casino hostess how many were VIP were on the ship and she said 320. 320/650 who cares, packed is packed and a lot of players were parked at machines all day everyday throughout the cruise. My wife was frustrated by not being able to move around to different machines because most of them weren't open. Not good.

Our trip was booked because of the price and the drinks available in the casino, not because of the Ultimate VIP in Nov. If this invitation should come our way, we will think twice about it, because too many players in one small casino does not equal a good time.

Have fun to all that get the invitation!!

Hello!

I had received one of those as well, (although a few months ago). I wasn't quite sure how to read that. I'd also already booked my cruise and made final payment, (which happens to be the January 7th Regal), before I knew about the casino offer. I don't expect to get any booking discount, but I wonder if I'd be eligible for any of the perks. And no, I'm not a huge gambler, but a few drinks I don't have to pay for while I'm gambling a bit of money away anyway would be nice. Okay, truth....I'd also love a chance to get on that VIP cruise. I wish I could help you out. Glad you got the price change. Have fun!!

Our VIP experience:

Agree no set date or details until 8/31.

Used to get cash offer for future cruise with time limits on book

ing and sailing in cabin last night.

Last cruise finished 6/20/18 host said to contact Princess Casinos via email to get offer. Did so, with response the same as used to get on board with same booking time frame limits. Also used to be handed cash at cage. ..last 2 cruises 2/18 and 6/18...both Crown ...given Free Play Chips.

Can imagine 8/31 offer is going to create flood of responses making it frustrating if nothing else to book...better be spectacular , or else "Hello NCL":')

Received an offer yesterday for a cruise that I have already booked and paid for. Got a better price booking on my own and more in free play by contacting the Ocean Players club directly. Won't get the VIP perks though. But, since I already have the drink package, the free drinks are no big deal and I'd rather have my suite perks than the VIP ones. I just hope it doesn't make it too hard to get on the machines that I like to play.

A very friendly casino manager on a very long cruise several years ago refunded $30 I had left in a machine the previous evening by accident. He asked the approximate time and machine. He returned from the back office and showed me a multi page printout of every machine I played and when I left the money. Every time you play a machine it is recorded. They know if you play minimum, medium or maximum and precisely which machines. My couple of hours of minimum play ran to about 10 pages of computer print out. I always receive a notice to contact the casino operator by email for a special deal on the next cruise. The points count but the workers frequently don’t know the specifics since the offers frequently change based on total take. The casinos are run by an independent company....not Princess or Carnival for legal reasons. Mike

our friend's mom spends DAYS and copious amounts of money in the casino on Princess ships, and not once over the last 3-4 years of doing so was she offered a casino rate.

I get the random email but to get good discounts on specific cruises, but I just called and asked about the cruises that I wanted. I got a Vista Suite for the price of a Window suite on one and then on the next one I got a Window Suite for less than a balcony. Does your friends mom have a cruise planner? that's who she should ask.

Tell her to get a recommendation of a cruise planner or see if there is one listed on the emails that she gets. And then call and ask. I never would have known to ask if I hadn't seen someone on here recommend that.

I get these often. Last Dec. I received one titled "game for anything" with a list of cruises- Each "Exclusive Casino Offer" allowed $150 free play; up to 35% off cruise fares+Free gratutities+up to $300 off EZair. In going through the book which had the cruises I found a page which stated "Also Available" and "Featured Fares From.. Since the cruise I wanted was there 19 day Sydney to Hong Kong on the Majestic I tried to book it. Then the fun began. Fare not available-You not getting any casino credit-Free gratuities-The ship is sailing from Australia so normally nobody pays gratuities? As for the air fare--That was gong to be wait and see as we were going to take the cruise before this one as well and it had another off which included the same reduced airfare. Kept getting told that we would not get the offer. Numerous calls to Princess and my own "Princess advisor" just kept getting "Please hold while I check" No changes, even sent copies of brochure to Princess customer service and contacted Princess Players Club. No!!! All of a sudden my (non Princess) TA calls me and tells me I am getting $450 gambling money ((offered) $150=-I was getting reduced cruise fare( saved over $1500), Free gratuities and reduced air fare. The only bad part--All of the credits (OBC and FCC) will be in AUD.

  • 2 weeks later...

For those of you who have cruised the VIP Casino offer, does your spouse in the same cabin also get invites to the parties and drinks in the casino...assuming she is doing a little gambling? Is the casino drink sticker on your cruise card or something you wear on your clothing? Just curious. Going on the last eligible cruise next month. Thanks, h

On the ones I have been involved in the only person that is automatically getting drinks is the person whose name was on the invite. I had a lanyard with card (not cruise card) and drinks were only while gambling. If your significant other is social enough with casino host they may be offered drinks(may is key word!) We and the couple we were cruising with, were invited to the welcome party but not other parties.
