Pinnacle Suite perks/amenities

We are planning our second trip to Alaska next year (Spring 2018) and with any luck will be celebrating a huge promotion and possibly our wedding. Since its been a few years and we may have a lot to celebrate we are strongly considering booking on of the Nieuw Amsterdams Pinnacle suites. My question is does anyone know if spending a week in this particular real estate includes access to the thermal suite or the mineral pool on this ship? It was a highlight of our last trip while on Oosterdam and certainly worth the price! So relaxing after a day of trekking, getting lost, finding our way, getting lost again then finding our way back for the second time! I was just wondering if this is included as part of the perks for the Pinnacle suites? I know HAL has changed the suite perks frequently over the last few years and I cant find any information anywhere. Thanks in advance guys, and happy cruising to everyone!

PS will usually be escorted on the ship and, of course, can have course to course dining at their dining room table, but after that....

The amenities are basically the same as a Neptune Suite, so no thermal spa.

There was a recent report of a free ship's tour offered. Not sure though if that was just for that ship, them or if HAL is making changes.

Nothing has been posted by HAL amending the benefits of the PS.

It's a nice space and a great treat. And a great way to celebrate. Really recommend dining in one night at least. It can be fun and, if you are so inclined, you can invite friends (if you don't want to be alone ;) ).

Wishing you a fabulous cruise no matter what you decide :)

I have heard about "course by course dining at the dining room table" but I do not see this listed anywhere on HAL. AM I missing where it is stated?

I don't know if if it's listed, but it's definitely been offered to PS guests for years. I highly recommend hosting a dinner party for your friends. You'll be asked to order for everyone in the afternoon. One recommendation: If you are planning pre dinner cocktails, go light on the hors d'oeuvres order. If you are hosting 6 people and you order hors d'oeuvres for six, you might wind up not being hungry for dinner. You can also order a bartender if you want, but we just had a couple of bottles from room service and the appropriate mixers.

Thank you all so much. The thermal spa was by no means a deciding factor, although we only used the large mineral pool on our last trip it was well worth the cost of admission, I was just curious if that might be an amenity or not. As for course by course dining that would be fantastic. My only real complaint about HAL is how food service is "hands off" for the first two days or so. (I completely appreciate why they developed this policy, its just a bit of an inconvenience though not as inconvenient as falling ill.) In room dining would be much more convenient, I imagine that might give some purpose to the butlers pantry in these suites. We will likely also be traveling with friends so entertaining them would be lovely as well! Happy cruising everyone!

I don't think it is listed. But, it's been around a long time as POA1 says.

Often the MDR manager or the concierge may suggest it or ask if you want to do it. On the Prinsendam we were encouraged to do it ;)

Were the menu selections limited to the MDR or was it possible to select from the specialty restaurants too?

For the last couple of years the Code Orange has been gone from the Lido for the first couple of days. It was never in place in any other part of the ship.

Yes -- but it is discouraged on some ships -- I have no idea why.

We have never ordered any dinner into the cabin.

We prefer to eat in the Pinnacle and the Tamarind on the ships that have this specialty restaurant.

I guess I am inexperienced having never sailed HAL before, but what do you mean by "Course by Course" dining in the MDR?

Thank you

I was referencing course by course dining in the Pinnacle Suite. Basically, rather than have room service just bring a tray, you can have the same service you would in the dining room for dinner, with the table beautifully set and waiters who bring you your selections "course by course". (appetizers first, main course, desserts, etc.)

Ahhh! Okay thanks - that sounds like a nice experience. I wonder how many persons they can fit at a table in the suites?

In the Pinnacle Suites - depending on the ship and the size of the suite - 8 people normally. Some are more comfortable at 6 IMO.

Six with ease. Eight if you squeeze. We only have experience with the Vista class PS, so it may vary.

And some of tables in the Pinnacle Suite, even with the extra leaf opened can barely sit 6 easily because they are to begin with instead of being either oblong or oval.

Good to know. Are you talking about the S and R class?

  • 1 year later...

The biggest perk of the Pinnacle Suite is the size. Course by course dining has been offered for years, and just contact your Concierge for details. We have also had evening dining on the veranda complete with table cloths and course by course. Enjoy your cruise.
