Essiesmom's response is also applicable to hotels. When you post, make sure you give your budget (everyone defines 'reasonable' differently) and date(s) of travel so posters can give you an informed decision.

Best way to get to and from the cruiseport from Rome? Any reasonably priced hotels in Rome?

I always chuckle when someone posts "reasonably priced." Are you meaning "cheap" or "value"?

IMO, Rome (like any world class destination city) has hotel prices varying based on season, location, amenities, etc.

We stay at a very small property close in to the Spanish Steps. With only about a handful of accommodations, reservations usually need to be made a year in advance. At about $300USD/night for the most desirable suite in "shoulder" seasons, it is a true bargain- in part because the manager can also arrange for a an excellent driver (and/or licensed guide) at far more favorable pricing than may be found on the internet.

"Best" is subjective. We take the train because we can each manage our one piece of rolling luggage (plus backpack). The regional train is a very affordable option to Civitavecchia (5 euro per person, one way). https://www.fsitaliane.it/content/fsitaliane/en.html

There is also a bus at 19 euro per person:

Taxi is also available & you can check-out shared rides on your roll call. The drive from Rome to Civi is about an hour and a half & taxi rates can be quite high (about 100 - 120 euro).

We have used Bob's Limo Rome several times and have been very happy with them. Cost for 2 people Rome to cruise port about $100.00. They also do airport to Rome hotels for about $45.00 for two. Have also stayed at Crowne Plaza Rome for about $220.00 per night for refundable room with breakfast. They run a shuttle to downtown and to St. Peters each morning with return in the Evening.

We take a taxi from our airbnb apartment down to the train station and take the direct train from there.

If you are staying 3 or more days, try an airbnb in the city. We've gotten good deals for $ 120 per night near the coliseum and also near Piazza Navona. Nice to have a real apartment. We go out for breads etc for breakfast and go back in the late afternoon for wine and cheese and a rest. Then out for evening. Rome is magic at night.

We used www. transferitalyrome.com

The owner is Antonio Cagnoli.

The driver met us at the platform at the train station and took us to our B&B in Civitavecchia. Carried our luggage up a long flight of stairs.

Quick reply to our emails.

Would definitely use them again.

You might ask on the Ports of Call board for Europe. Lots of discussions on the best way to get to and from Civitavecchia. EM

I see you are going on the Equinox in August. We just got off it today from a 7 day cruise, excellent service on board, great food! We too are planing a overseas trip to Greek Isles on the Celebrity Edge in 2019. Smooth sailing this August...God Bless

For us the reasonable priced hotel is the Hilton at the Rome Airport... they have a free shuttle into Rome, easy to get to the airport when you want to fly and we use Romecabs.com to get a private car service to and from the ship to hotel/airport... Hilton price varies depending on day week and how busy. Car service runs about $400 each way, can get a quote and book on line, pay day of service.

We have used the train to go from the port to Rome; the opposite should be the same. You need to be able to handle your own luggage and some steps, depending on which train you get on. That is by far the cheapest option.

We also have used Bob's Limo several times, very good. They do have a senior rate, so check on that, at least from the airport to the port. They don't have just limos, but car service as well.

We stayed in a B&B a few blocks from the Colosseum; It was around $120 a night with a fantastic breakfast.
