This may sound like a silly question but I wanted to ask. I am traveling on a cruise to the Bahamas from New York and our first port will be in Florida. Can I leave my phone on normal mode until we leave Florida? Thanks in advance for the info.

While enroute from NY to FLA, you most likely will be out of range of shore installations. Therefore using shipboard phone service. Therefore spending big money for calls and text. Check your service provider and cruise line to see what plans might be offered to you. Or, just turn it off. In an emergency people ashore can call you via the cruise line to your cabin, and if not an emergency, you can chat when you get home.

Just as a side note.... by design, "airplane mode" disable all wireless connections including WiFi and Bluetooth. However, once you enable airplane mode, you can then reactivate WiFi and Bluetooth while keeping airplane mode on and avoiding mobile charges.

When we have multiple ports in the US I simply turn ‘roaming’ off and leave plane out of airplane mode. That was once you are in range if your network it will connect but won’t if you are out of range.

Not meaning to be snarky but it can be construed that way,,

If you know of a kid over 8 years old,, ask them to explain it to you.

They will be extremely happy to have helped.

I ask my grandchildren for help all the time on this technology stuff
