Galveston port to IAH

Consider Houston Hobby if you can; it is about 45 minutes from the port and IAH is considerably longer. The advantage to IAH is Disney transfers. But, for Hobby, we simply took a cab from the port. There are also local car services that can pick you up at the port.

It really depends on how many of you need transportation and whether you want to stay in the IAH or the Galveston area if you come in a day early. Basically you can rent a car, take a taxi/Uber, or use one of the many shuttle services available. DO allow plenty of time as traffic can vary considerably.

For 10 of you, a private shuttle will definitely be better. We've used Super Shuttle (available in many cities, but franchised so each location is slightly different). Another good option is Cruise Connection, which offers private vehicles for parties of up to 11 people. Sorry, I've done them as a shared shuttle, so not sure how the pricing works when you charter a private vehicle.
