Can I make my flight in Barcelona?

If we disembark as early as possible from our Seabourn cruise can we make a 10:00 am flight from Barcelona airport??

How early is early? What time does the ship dock?

It all depends on when they let you off and how traffic is

Also keeping in mind you have extra security if your flight is direct to the US. Sounds pretty risky to me.

Ideally you want to be at BCN by about 7....or perhaps 7:30. The airport does suggest 3 hours for a flight outside the Schengen countries. The answer to your question would depend on what time you would be able to get off the ship and in some kind of transport to BCN.

Even if the only other departure time is late afternoon, I'd opt for that everytime. The stress and uncertainty, not to mention potential consequences, just aren't worth it, imo.

In Barcelona we had the longest wait for a taxi in any city we've ever disembarked in, 55 minutes. It was horrendous.

I would not want the stress of trying to make that flight. I know that I would be worried about it all cruise, and that's not good. :(

You're on Seabourn so you'll probably be at the World Trade Centre Terminal in Barcelona - if so, taxis are usually readily available outside and you can make a swift start toward the airport. If not, I think you have to be shuttled in from the outer piers and then compete with the hoards for a taxi.

Last time I cruised in, I was on Silversea in a similar situation to you and made a 11.30am flight (to LHR) and I made it easily but I think a 10am flight would have been very worrisome. Nowadays with the extra security checks for flights to the USA, it could be worse.

So my answer is probably, maybe, but I wouldn't risk it.

BCN was plagued with luggage handler and security worker strikes/slowdowns last year requiring arrival at airport several hours before the 3 hour recommendation. I suggest you choose a later flight.
