Star....Tappanyaki

Yes - this is normal - you will have to wait until you board to make reservations for

the Teppanyaki Grill (if you are in a suite - call the pre-cruise concierge - they can make a note that you want to dine there, and finalize the reservations when you arrive at the port)

If you are not in a suite - make a bee-line to the Dining Reservations desk when you first board the ship.

The sushi area does not accept reservations - never very crowded - just first come first served

No reservation for sushi. The reason why there is not possible to Book Teppanyaki is because they only havet one (or possible two?) tables.

What you should book quite early One embarkation day to make sure you get your preffered time.

We are sailing on the Jade in April and have already made our Teppanyaki reservations on line. When we booked the times available for two were 5:00, 7:00 and 9:00. We are 83 days away from sailing and there is still availability for Teppanyaki dining reservations. I think the Jade Teppanyaki has four tables which could explain why some on line reservations are allowed.

Yes, the Jewel class ships (Jewel, Jade, Pearl and Gem) have 4 Teppanyaki tables. The Spirit has only one. The Sun also has one (but with 2 hot plates next to one other, requiring 2 chefs) seating 12 people.

The larger ships (Epic and up) have 12 odd tables - plentiful.

Star and sister ship Dawn have only 2 Teppanyaki tables, so you'll have to wait until you are on board before booking.

I don't remember what we did on the Star. But the Dawn is definitely pre-bookable. BUT,,, as pointed out, there are only a couple of tables. So it sells out very quickly. And you need to book exactly 90 days prior to your cruise when reservations open (100 days for suites). 7 weeks before cruise is definitely too late. And it will sell out in a few hours on embarkation day. So, if tenppanyaki is a priority, then you must go immediately to restaurant reservations when you embark.

Website say this is not available to book or reserve. Is this normal? We are about 7 weeks out. Also is there no reservations for Sushi?

Teppanaki wasn’t available for us to book ahead when we went on the Star. We booked it from i concierge when we got on the ship.
