Tender ports on Celebrity Cruise to the British Isles

Would anyone care to share their experience getting off the ship at tender ports on a prior Celebrity cruise? I’ve heard you have priority getting off if you’ve purchased a shore excursion directly from Celebrity. We’ve done a Disney Cruise where they tendered at a port and I don’t remember a long wait. I’ve heard Princess has a numbering system. We are trying to decide what type of shore excursion we want to do - Private or organizer group. For organized group, we’d have to trek to their meeting point in Edinburgh by a certain time. Most meeting points seem to be somewhere on the Royal mile. Even with taking a taxi vs public transportation, transit time can be lengthy due to busy traffic and construction, as one company told me.

A few years ago Celebrity offered a ride to and from Edinburgh for $50. I got the priority tender, and the ride to the city on a crowded bus, and they dropped me off on the Royal Mile. Then I was on my own until it was time to find my bus back to the port. It worked really well for me. The other benefit was that when the return trip was completely blocked off by an accident I wasn't stressing out about getting to the ship - it was Celebrity's problem to manage.
