Eclipse, a Mediterranean Royal Suite Experience

Thanks Sue,

Presently sat in the harbour in Palma enjoying the view. As we spent a week here in June in a countryside villa we are going to enjoy a quiet ship day!

Your advice about Barcelona airport came in handy. We contacted the airline and said we would need mobility help if the walk from gate to the exit was too far. They arranged a golf cart for us which worked out great! I think airports are becoming increasingly difficult for those of us who are somewhere between mobile and disabled. Certainly neither of us could have made that long walk. Thanks again for your advice.

You're welcome!

Chemmo, enjoy your cruise with your family. Love your idea concerning Tuscan Grill. That is our plans as well even if our ship is still in port and departs late.

Did Celebrity have the new Express luggage service for RS cabins and above in Barcelona?

If yes, how did it work out for you?

Was it easy to find at at the port?

Was your luggage in your cabin right away?

Thank you.

Enjoy your cruise. Glad you had no travel issues this time.

Thanks Mary Lou! Yes, a much more relaxing start to our vacation. We cruise the Caribbean this time next year and have booked our usual add on Florida villa stay pre rather than post cruise ‘just in case’ we are unlucky with the weather again.....

Celebrity did have the express luggage delivery system in operation. We had been advised of this by the Shoreside Concierge. There was a big sign near to the suite entrance door. They were taking and adding an extra label to the bags of all suite guests. We (and I assume other RS, PH guests) were then escorted through security to the suite check in. We completed our check in and were then escorted by a really polite and pleasant gentleman (whose name evades me) to Michael’s Club. Much as we know the way it is a nice touch. He also insisted on carrying my hand luggage which was kind of him.

Our luggage arrived a little later than when we were on Reflection. On that cruise our luggage was at the room before we returned from Luminae (1.30ish). This time our luggage arrived at 3.00pm still giving us time to be unpacked and sorted before muster.

Hope you really enjoy your cruise! Despite being really tired we thoroughly enjoyed our first night in Tuscan. It really has become a family tradition for us now to see the port in the distance, watch the wake of the ship and imagine we are leaving all the cares and challenges of the real world behind and being transported into the realm of X where we know we will be looked after....

Yesterday we really enjoyed not getting off the ship! It was sooooo nice to go down to the pool area and have a great choice of sun beds! We swam in an empty Solarium pool (so nice not to need the ‘ducking stool’ this time!).

We once again enjoyed the wonderful Indian food in the buffet at lunch. I can never understand any criticism of the buffet on Solstice ships...it is so well laid out and there is so much choice. Despite our premium drinks packages we enjoyed the free fruit punch and lemon juice!

Sea day today so I don’t think the pool will be so tranquil. On principle we will not ‘save’ a sunbed.....When we go down late morning we will hopefully find somewhere to enjoy the sunshine!

Hi Chemmo

We are boarding next Friday after you disembark,,,also staying the night before in Barcelona.

Interested if there are any late night pool parties.

Should i pack a white shirt for a Full Moon party?:)

Hoping you are not drinking all the Guinness!!!

Your Guinness is safe from us....Courvoisier less safe!

Jeanie, we are not really into late night anything! We are usually sipping a final drink on the balcony by 10ish. Hopefully someone else who has recently cruised on Eclipse can advise re late night pool or other parties.

Hope you have a fantastic cruise!

Today we are in Messina in Sicily.

A really great port for those who can manage short walks but nothing too strenuous. If you don’t want to be tied to prebooked excursions there is a ‘noddy’ train and horse and cart rides as well as taxi options. The Cathedral really is beautiful. There are lots of vendors about but none of them are ‘pushy’ so it really is a pleasant port to stop at.

We are continuing to really enjoy our suite. With us tiring quite quickly it is nice to have a spacious room to return to....It is also great to have the bar set up....

We had our first Tuscan Elite breakfast this morning. Back to menu rather than buffet. It does make a good option when you only want something light to start the day with...Elizabeth the CC host is lovely...very welcoming!

We have eaten in the Tuscan Grill (for Elite breakfast) once since becoming Elite several years ago. I think it was for disembarkation day. We are normally in Blu or Luminae, so feel that the Elite breakfast is not needed, nor was it very inviting being a buffet.

Is the Elite breakfast going to now be "sit down with menu" on every ship? I know that the breakfast is held in Tuscan on the Solstice class ships. What about on the Millennium class ships and the Edge?

What is the advantage of dining in the Elite breakfast venue versus dining in Blu or Luminae, especially if it will be by menu and not quick pick-up. Or can you take advantage of both?

Chemmo, thanks for reporting. Always enjoy following along with your reports, and am glad you did not have the travel issues this time around.

For other poster's edification, we are not scheduled on Eclipse, in a suite or otherwise. I thought you may want to know.

Luminae offers a great breakfast choice and we do enjoy dining there. Some days, however, we do not want a big breakfast. The light Elite breakfast offers another choice. We cannot answer for it being a sit down menu on other ships but this is the direction Eclipse has chosen. It is open 8am until 10am so on port days it can be useful if you have slept in past Luminae’s closing time.

We do enjoy variety on our cruises. Just as we visit the breakfast we will usually go to the Elite cocktail party once or twice per cruise too despite our drinks package and access to Michael’s.

Yesterday morning we were docked in Messina and wanted only a light bite and to enjoy the view. The fact that you get a ‘made up plate’ means that service is quick too. Yesterday we had the ultimate platter with fruit, small salmon bagel, a little cold meat and a small pastry. It was ideal for what we wanted.

There isn’t a pick up and go option, if we want to do that and eat back in the room we would go the Oceanview...

Thanks Kevin! It was nice to start the holiday an a leisurely fashion rather than trying to find somewhere to buy a toothbrush!

What I need to hear. :) My husband insist that we wake early enough to catch breakfast in Blu or Luminae because we do not like the morning crowds at the OVC. Having another option that stays open later is great! I am going to make him take advantage of the Elite breakfast this next cruise.

Thank you and have a wonderful cruise! ;)

We have always enjoyed a light breakfast in Luminae. Are they pushing more food at Luminae? Usually after the first morning they seem to know what we want for breakfast.

At the beautiful island of Mykonos....The sun is trying its hardest to break though the clouds!

Nooo, forget that....in the time it took us to eat breakfast it became totally grey and rainy....

Our memories of previous land and cruise ship trips to any of the Greek islands has always been that of shimmering blue and white, just feel sorry for those for whom this is a first visit. Still only early morning so hopefully it will brighten up later.

As long as he is happy with a cold option it does provide another choice....

No, lighter options are still available and the staff continue to be willing to modify items to your own personal preference. We simply enjoy varying our location. When we do visit Luminae for breakfast we tend to enjoy a full breakfast rather than something light, however....
