Discovery 2 Adreatic Explorer & agean meze 28th September 18

Hi We are on the Discovery 2 , 28th September 2018 for 2 weeks and one port is Venice. Just wanted to ask advice regarding thisome port. Is it best to do a excursion from the ship? As we have heard Venice is confusing, and easy to get lost, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Venice is wonderful to wander round. It's great to wander the small canals, you really don't need to do a tour. Take a map if there are places you want to see or take a water taxi.

As dronny girl says it is easy but if you have concerns take the ships on your own excursion it costs a little more but you have no problems for your return as it gets very busy later on have good one😀

Definitely do the ships tour as otherwise you could be queuing for a long time once you get there and again you need to be back on time If the tour is late getting back the ship will wait

Hi, there is a "Hop on Hop off" bus from outside the port into Athens.

We have done both its very easy we did not do the acropolis on the BRB but its a great area and you can walk up to the museum and see the acropolis with a fantastic photo opportunity with the reflections from the museum windows, lovely area to have a nice coffee.

When going to Venice make sure you are up on deck at least an hour before arrival. The sail in is wonderful, we had a commentary telling about all the islands and sea defences. You also get your first glimpse of St. Marks Sq.
