2019/20 cruises

Not long to wait now before the 2019/20 cruises will be released. I've just received an email which gives the following details:

Register your interest early

12 March 2018 8.00am - 18 March 4.00pm

On sale exclusively to Caribbean, Baltic

and Ligurian members of our loyalty club

19 & 20 March 2018 8.00am to 8.00pm

On general sale

21 March 2018 8.00am

Holidays departing from October 2019 - December 2019

22 March 2018 8.00am

Holidays departing from January 2020 - March 2020

Frustrating timing, as we are on a cruise when pre-registration commences and I am not wasting time waiting an eternity to see an on board cruise specialist during my holiday, especially when they have no defined waiting system or queue.

Can someone remind me, do the itineraries get released before pre-reg (and, if so, roughly how long before) or is 12th March the first day we will have sight of them?

Have a feeling that we will also be on a cruise when the next batch are released in September, so will have the same problem!

I think we are away as well, not on a cruise, it does happen, when the cruises are to be booked. We simply look at the cruises on line and then inform our TA who does the business and books the cruise.

Not sure but it is usually about 7 to 10 days before the first booking.

I am sure they will have the information on board you just need to contact whoever you book with. Then leave it to them.

October 2019 itineraries are out already. We are going to book one when we are on board this april.

Yes, some October 19 dates were released with the last batch last year, but the next 6 month period up to March 2020 (including more Oct 19 cruises) isn’t released until next month.

The ships that I want are out, so that''s OK :-)

We are on a cruise also when the itineraries come out.I have contacte d my usual TA to confirm that if we book onboard they will give us the usual discount if we transfer the booking back to them and have decided that if there is anything we want to book and the queues are not too long we will book, otherwise we will wait until our return to the UK

I need a specific cabin/cabins which my TA news about. On the first morning you cannot ok specific cabins with P&O and so I use my TA.

We have a fair idea now which Cruise we will be booking.

There will be no shocks or new itineraries so just look at Oct18-Mar19 and will be very similar.

Given the recent experiences of passengers with pre-booked cruises being cancelled on Adonia (following the sale of the ship) and Aurora (conversion to adult only), I wonder how many seasoned P&O cruisers will feel comfortable booking 2020 cruises on Oriana given that I think most of us are of the view that she will be sold once the new ships come on stream, the first of which arrives in 2020. I don’t think that I would feel confident!

I dont receive any emails, phone calls or post from P&O (my choice as I hate junk mail) so didnt get this email

That's not right. For a start Britannia is scheduled a dry dock in November 2019.

Where will Britannia be having her dry dock? Germany? Italy?...

Will she be having her centre stairs opened up like on Royal & Regal ?... Does Majestic have them opened up? Will Sky Princess have them aswell...

I was told by a senior officer on Britannia that a midships passenger stairwell will be added in the first major refit. There is a crew staircase that could be converted, but it’s not immediately adjacent to the lifts.

It was the crew staircase on Royal & Regal that was opened up to passengers

So it makes sense for Britannia to have hers opened up as well...

Got back from Britannua a week ago and crew expect midships stairs to be opened up.

The staircase is there for crew use. I’ve used it before when going to a muster drill. It is located like the Ventura mid ships staircase behind the passenger and staff lifts.

They need to fit out as a passenger area and move the relevant security doors.

Was also told by crew that Java to move to deck 5 replacing market cafe. Deck 7 will then gain an expanded glasshouse both sides of the atrium.

That all makes sense. The Market Cafe has never worked properly and the food on offer has depleted from when it first opened. The Glasshouse is usually packed on Britannia and it can be difficult to get a table, but service is terminally slow, so I hope that they double the staff. It will be interesting if the area currently outside Java remains as a smoking area, as I wouldn’t like to dine in the Glasshouse on the starboard side if I kept getting wafts of fags every time the door opened. I presume that the refit won’t be able to address the soot problem that blights the aft cabins and deck areas.

That makes sense. Not sure the Market Cafe actually worked very well. A bigger glass house is a better idea.

At least one website is showing her present in the Caribbean on 1 Jan 2020 then doing usual two week cruises. They have not loaded 25 Oct 2019 they 31 Dec 2019 yet.
