Airfare Barcelona to DFW

Looking at repositioning next April, Florida to Barcelona. When is best time to look for airfare prices and airlines?

The cheapest fares were probably already sold.

Very common recommendation on this board for one way international flights is to check with your cruise line's air program. This is perhaps their strongest feature.

Or use frequent flyer miles, if possible.

There is no firm answer. Ticket prices don't follow any sort of automatic schedule, wherein they are always cheapest X number of days/weeks/months before travel. They fluctuate constantly, up AND down, according to the laws of supply and demand.

I fly across the Atlantic several times a year and generally get the best prices about nine to ten months out. After that, you may get seats in the cheapest fare buckets but it becomes less likely (but by no means impossible), particularly if you don't have much flexibility on dates.

However, this tends to be less true of one way prices - is that what you are looking for? If you have airline mileage status, one ways are a good use of award tickets but availability trans oceanic is limited, again you need to book as early as you can.

For a cruise next April, I would have bought the plane ticket by now.

Norwegian don't fly to DFW. It would require flying BCN-??? on Norwegian (be it somewhere in the US or Europe) and then get a separate ticket from there to DFW. OP, if you choose this route, please be aware of the possible issues of separate tickets.
