Oh boy! I can definitely see Norwegian having reason to bring suit against the woman, but I'm sure the PR department is not excited to hear that the COO's mother is speaking with the news.

"Mr Stuart's mother contacted the Daily Telegraph to protest that her son’s company was being wrongly blamed for the incident. His mother said: “She didn’t fall off. She jumped. This has cost Norwegian Cruise Line $600,000. This stupid woman....I spoke to Andrew at lunchtime. He phones me almost every day. What he said was ‘this is fake news’. He said that she couldn’t have fallen. You would have to take steps to climb over the railings. He said she jumped in the water.”

That was my thought too! Her maternal instinct is strong. 😋

I would say it’s more stupid than maternal - she has made him look like a giant mama’s boy and has increased his likelihood of a lawsuit. Old “Mum’ needs to shut it!

If the internet says she just accidentally slipped and fell off the back end of a cruise ship,,,, it must be true. Not.

Well yeah it's possible, if your drunk or well stupid and thinking your some gymnast walking a balance beam on the ship's rail, you can just slip and fall off. To be honest some court's do have a history of rewarding people's stupidity.

I'm always amazed when relatives decide to speak for an individual, when the individual has decided not speaking is the best path...

I would not be very happy w/ Mom or Dad, Sister, Brother, Spouse... if they spoke for me...

Totally agree. I assume it's especially problematic (and more common) for famous people/those in the spotlight.

COO was probably making his daily mama call, was probably going thru emails/news, etc. as he called her and was just going thru the motions with mom (uh hu, yea, good, cool.. then, ah man, what a crazy woman jumping off the ship) and venting.. not realizing what he was saying... I can see that happening, lol!

I heard he's now investing in a movie called 'Throw Mama from the Ship'!

I liked it. She said what everyone thinks and NCL corporate can kinda wash their hands of the statement, sway PR in their direction and put the woman on notice what may be in store for her if she decides to continue with the "fell" overboard story and find herself an ambulance chaser to sue.
