Ponza, Italy: any tips?

Hello,

I would like to hear from people who stopped in Ponza with Star Clippers.

Where do you dock in Ponza exactly?

Is there a beach where we could spend a few hours, walking distance from the dock?

Any must see sight worth a taxi ride?

Thank you

Ponza is a small island with one main port. The harbour is too small to dock so you tender from just outside.

It is a small lively place with some shops and many restaurants. I believe that there is an out of town beach but you may not be on Ponza long enough to go there. It will probably only be a morning stop, which is quite sufficient to explore the town.

We tendered to Ponza from the RC. The seas were up but the boat crews were great and got us ashore - we were really impressed with their small boat handling skills. Ponza itself is small, quaint and we enjoyed a long walk with a snack and a glass of wine.
