Any beach clubs suitable for toddlers ?

We are traveling to Progreso on Carnival Triumph with my 3 year old twins next month. We were hoping to avoid Carnival excursions and book something privately. Has anyone been to any of the beach clubs recently? How close to the pier are they? How's the food? We did the Carnival excursion to the Reef Club about 18 months ago. There were many families with children there and we all had a good times. There was a lot of drinking but no one got out of hand, the music was laid back, the pool was great (cool it was November), and there was a small playground for children. Best of all Carnival matched the Autoprogreso price for us.
