Hello!

We are 12 people arriving all at different times of the day before our cruise.

It makes more sense to stay in the same hotel with airport shuttle...

and then all of us catch our transfer to the port together in the morning.

Anyone have a recommendation? Ideally with an airport shuttle.

I like this one...but have read its not safe to walk around outside?

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Houston Intercontinental Arpt

Aldine Bender Road Houston TX

Any advice would be great. Thank you

Would it be possible to Uber to Galveston (may be cheaper than a shuttle transfer per person) and just stay on Galveston the night before? We always stay on the island prior to the cruise. We like Moody Gardens, they also have a shuttle to the port in the morning and don't require two night stay.

I fly in and out of that airport a couple times a month

Are you looking for a place to eat

Place to drink

Place to shop

Or just somewhere to walk ?

Shuttle from airport

Ideally a place to grab a few items pre ship.

Fast food.

And then a quick scoot to the ship. ;)

There will be no "quick scoot to the ship" as IAH is 70-75 miles from the port. (With downtown Houston in between). There are some hotels on JFK Blvd south of the airport, between Greens Rd and Beltway 8. Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden inn, stuff like that with shuttles. There some fast food places along here as well and it is walkable. I used to stay in this area when I lived in Houston and had an early flight. (I lived about 60 miles form the airport and fighting Houston traffic i the morning was not something I wanted to do)

  • 4 weeks later...

The hotels close to IAH are not within walking distance of a lot of stuff. Maybe fast food or gas stations. If you can get lucky, your hotel will have a restaurant. Galveston hotels can be more expensive but you can walk to some great restaurants.

I've read where others have recommended a limousine service (sorry, don't recall a name) from IAH to the port and being a better bargain that some of the shuttles or Uber. An internet search on Houston limousine service should get the ball rolling. Another suggestion would be to check the CC section of Gulf Port Departures for more info.
