Planning our first cruise. Ideal is small ship and Athens to Athens

Hi there

We are a couple in our 50s planning our first cruise.

Ideally we are looking for a ship with between 50 and 100 passengers, and would cruise for about 7-8 days. We would also like to travel from Athens to Athens, in September 2018.

Are we asking too much?

Any suggestions would be appreciated... or let me know if we are dreaming..

This will be a challenge. If it was me I would get a travel specialist who specializes in cruises to help you with this.

Try googling 'small ship cruises in Greece', or similar. You are looking at a cruise in the luxury category. Maybe not in amenities, but certainly in price. Look up Variety cruises. EM

So I checked a couple of my favorite data bases and you are in luck. There are a few options from low cost to very high end cruising. Here is a list of the ships doing that type of 7 day cruise next September: SeaDream II, Silver Whisper, Pullmantur's Horizon, and the Seabourn Odyssey. All these vessels, except for the Horizon...are very high-end luxury cruises with prices to match.

Thank you all for your responses .. very much appreciated... it seems that the choice is big ship and lower price, or small ship and higher price. There are some good hints here so I shall pursue...

Celestyal sail round trips from Piraeus, but although they are small ships, they are not as small as you're hoping for. Their base is in Crete- used to be called Louis Cruise.

Windstar sails that route on one of two motorized sailboats, with under 150 passengers. We are biased of course, but it’s our favorite line, with outstanding service and great food, a casual atmosphere and the opportunity to be under sail. The price point is under the luxury lines and above the mainstream much larger ships. We are in our 50s and have traveled with them seven times.

Definitely look at Windstar. We love sailing on them - great service & food. About 150 passengers Max on the Wind Star which sails Greek Islands.

Sorry I left Windstar off my list (above). It was an oversight. That is another good option if you like small ship cruising at a reasonable price.
