Sunrise?

previous cruises, we seemed to miss the sunrises and sunsets. But this last one, we were up every morning between 5-5:30am (i'm still baffled as to why lolol) and enjoyed the sunrise almost every morning. there truly is nothing like it. it's like a breath of fresh air, the birth of a new day, the song from the silence of night.

here are a few pics from the last cruise. the first 2 are in Belize. the last was while we were passing by Cuba.

We always make it a point to catch a sunset on a cruise but is there anything special about a sunrise from a boat? I'm not much of an early riser, but I'll do it once if it's worth it.

I always wake up my DH and we grab coffee and go watch the sunrise....it is nice listening to the waves and watching the sun rise.

there are very few people out at this time of the morning....nice and quiet...there is...something special about it :)

You won't get "quiet" at sunset

as an early riser, i catch most sunrises. something very peaceful about them...probably the quiet as most are still sleeping. always have the camera with me, as some extreme colors sometime appear.

however, there's something depressing about the last morning's sunrise. they never seem to be pretty.

Sunrise can be equally as beautiful as sunset...

Sunrise over Progreso, Mexico...

I am an early riser, even on vacation......the sunrise is well worth getting up for. The ship is so quiet and the sunrise is beautiful - I love sitting up near the pool, having my coffee, catching the sunrise and watching the ship come to life -

We enjoy the sunset from our balcony :)

I normally wake up early, but the wife doesn't. I especially wake up if the ship is docking early morning for a Port of Call. The changes in the sounds/motion I guess. Off St Maarten I was glad I woke up. The sunrise was beautiful. Here are a couple of pics.

Mach...

I am assuming this pic of Conquest is taken from the Galveston port side of her with the sun rising behind her (east).

I notice a shrimper, tug and tanker on the right of photo.

What is that on the left side of photo.

Looks like a battleship.

We have no naval base and the Coast Guard doesn't have anything that size (that we the American people are aware of, lol)

Just curious as to the date this amazing photo was taken.

Thanks for sharing, we are sunrise people, too.

Yes, the sun that rises at sea start blue, then eventually changes color. No, no real difference except watching the sun rise over the water instead of over the land.

We are early risers and often are up to watch the sun rise. In Maine, it come up ongodly early most of the time, so it's nice to watch it rise a little later on the ship.

That was shot from SeaWolf Park as she was just turning into the channel. On the left there's a tanker and a channel marker...

There's one MAJOR difference between sunrise and sunset... you'll never see the elusive green flash at sunrise...

I do have to ask what is "the elusive green flash"? I have seen both sunrises and sunsets at sea and from shore and elsewhere (absolutely gorgeous in the mountains), but I am totally clueless as to what this is.
